I wouldn't agree its attention span as much as people just don't care. Unless it affects someone personally, then the average person could give a shit. I'd be a hippocrate to say that I'm not that way with certain things. As I'm sure we all are.

Yeah... ill give you that one. Were more concerned with getting our rights to wed in every state and matching our murses with our shoes to pay long enough attention to one individual

I'll admit I don't watch this show, I've seen it before but these type of reality shows don't hold my attention. Earlier this year when I has channel surfing and came across The 600 club and it had Phil and Missy on. I remember him saying then he was going to retire from the show. I searched and found this article from July 26, 2013.

Duck Dynasty’s” esteemed patriarch may soon be ready to hang up his hunting whistle for good. In a new interview with Parade magazine, Duck Commander founder Phil Robertson hints that he’ll likely leave the A&E hit reality show in the not-too-distant future.
Asked how much longer he plans to be involved, the bearded, camo-wearing duck hunter replies, “Not long.” But that doesn’t mean the series will end. “I think it’ll go on without me,” he muses.
    http://xfinity.comcast.net/blogs/tv...hil-robertson-i-wont-do-the-show-much-longer/

Could this just be a publicity stunt to drum up interest in the show then? I'm not saying he is lying about his religious beliefs, but the timing of the interview is too perfect. It has been said that any publicity is good publicity.

True. That's pretty much for anything. It gets reported on till no one cares anymore. Remember Chandra Levy? 9/11 is the best thing that ever happened for Gary Conduit.

Wouldn't doubt it. Considering the show is about as real as Larry the Cable Guy.
Say something negative about one of your smallest audience groups, without crossing the racial/slander/offensive line. All it's going to do is rally the people who believe "reality tv", and get your show talked about on every channel. I see no lose on either side with this.

Personally, I think the government should GTFO of the marriage business.
Domestic partnership for any consenting adults to cover the legal aspect of it.
If you want to be "married" and refer to each other as "husband and wife" or "husband and husband" or "Eggbert and Pookie".... that is a matter that is between you, your church, and your deity.

Personally, I do not agree with the LGBT lifestyle, but it is not my place to tell another how to run their life when it has no impact on mine.

Those started revolutions. The murders and suicides (the Trevor project) are far more worth fighting over than chick fail a's stance

Fuck no man... I've got family in Georgia and that Larry shit's as real as it gets!

Remember Daniel Carver, the "KKK Guy" on Stern's show?
They live about a quarter mile from him.

TV was WET until the 1970's when shows like Good Times and Sanford and son came on. Black people on tv till then were not taken seriously. Black history month is 1 month and it's the shortest month of the year. It cant be that bad for you to endure. Every other month is pretty much white history month. I dont think you are severely racist. You are from Alabama. The south has a tradition of segregation that is still widely accepted and enforced in certain parts. People "care" about this type of stuff because it has an awful past that is only 50 years old and if you have ever been a victim of racial hate crimes like myself and my family, hearing this crap just reminds us of how ugly certain people can be. I never back down when I hear this crap online or face to face with people and I never will. Call it butthurt, fine, I dont care what you call it. Just remember there are members of TW that are of different backgrounds than you and dont appreciate hearing shit like that. And, in terms of racial hatred our country is going up from what it was. If you think it's going down because of people standing up against racism, that says alot about you.

    True true true....

But I would feel the same way about identical public displays between heterosexuals.

Marriage has been a government non religious union for decades... I went to my first gay wedding last august and it was lovely. Albeit they did do so under Catholicism. I have another gay wedding to attend in a few months that will be atheist. It should be fun.

I have no deity and perhaps one day I myself will have someone to call my husband. (Taking applications if anyone is interested)

22 years later I still shake my head at this one. I had a Confederate flag license plate on my old Monte Carlo when I was 18. One day in my work parking lot a black man saw me getting out of the car and proceeded to call me a no good racist, POS honky, etc and that I better be happy he doesn't kick my ass. I asked why. He pointed to the plate and told me that's racist. I explained to him that it was given to me by a friend's father who was close to me (to the point I also called him Dad) that had passed away..not because he was racist, because he and I both loved the Dukes of Hazzard. Then I asked the fellow why he was wearing a black power shirt with a clenched fist and how should that be interpreted. That was different somehow..

This wins. I had this argument with an old girlfriend who wanted to be equal as male and female when it suited her, when it didn't she wasn't interested. My take? Bullshit. Equal is equal all the way, to pick and choose belies that statement that you believe in equality.

I can take or leave the religion thing, born/raised Catholic and I haven't gone to church in 20 years for my own reasons (inbox if you wanna know).

But you're right, the show is about family and being there for one another. At the end of it they always are shown having dinner and talking about some life's lesson learned that episode.

Henry Rollins did a great rant on that. 2 people in love wanting to get married..is that really such a big problem? If it is, I guess we must be in good shape as a country in terms of finance, war, etc since those things don't need attention. There was a lot more but that's the high level.

The majority of Louisiana and like myself and those on the duck dynasty show are pretty similar in that we have close knit families, religious based, and love to have fun. At least where I'm from this is the case....
