I have 2012 Tacoma SR5 Double Cab 4x4 with a factory alarm system. I had a Viper alarm system w/remote start installed. Two months after the install the remotes became unpaired from the Viper system. Took kit back 2 times for this issue. The install shop installed new updates problem solved right? Yep.

New problem I remote started the truck get in, put the truck in drive and the Viper alarm system activates and is going off while rolling out of the driveway, not good. I used the remote to deactivate it. This has been happening at random times. The factory Toyota alarm arms itself after a couple minutes if it doesn't get activated by the remote while parked. The installer for Viper says its Toyota programming, Toyota say its the programming from Viper.

Anyone else having this issue with there Tacoma with a Viper alarm ....

If I am following you right?

    1. Remote Start with Viper System.
    2. Viper System Alarm goes off, Not Toyota Alarm?
To me, it sounds as if the Viper System is at fault.
But I may not be understanding the issue correctly?

What exactly is the Toyota System doing other than Activating after Parking?

Mine’s a ‘13 & a Canadian model so kinda irrelevant but my installer who been doin’ this & audio installs since before 8 tracks won’t install a viper system into a Taco. He simply says No, it won’t work well.

    1. Yes 2. Yes

The Toyota alarm sets itself while its parked and the key is off.
The Viper Alarm remote starts the truck. I get in, put in the key, put it in Drive and the Viper alarm goes off while rolling out of the driveway.

My research has discovered I am not the only Toyota owner with this issue, according to another Viper vendor.

I have 2 appointments 1 at Toyota and another with the Viper Installer next week for diagnosis.

    I'll keep you posted.

May I suggest deactivating(remove fuse maybe, dont know) the viper system and see if that makes the toyota one act correctly. If a customer came to my dealer with a aftermarket alarm system and complaining about it I would tell them to remove the aftermarket one first.

The Toyota Alarm is acting correctly to my knowledge. I paid a lot of money for the Viper and I want it to work like it was advertised. It seems strange to me that Viper and Toyota can't speak the same language to resolve this issue. Viper has been in business a long time. I can't I have the only Taco or Toyota with this problem.

Toyota alarm is plug and play, so pretty easy to undo it. Toyota alarm install instructions attached, just do it in reverse.
