Im getting really tired of the poor lighting in my truck. Is there a better bulb to use, also my truck is an extra cab so the light is in the center of the ceiling but I notice if I pull the cover off where my rear view mirror is (where the light is in a regular cab is) it looks like you could easliy put in socket and bulb there. Has any one tried this?

The domelight LEDs are great..... as long as the truck has power turned on. Without power you get FAR less light than with a standard bulb, its more like a faint flicker.

What kind of interior light bulb does an 03 extracab have?

    Thanks,

The regular bulb type is DE3175. If you are shopping on superbrightleds.com then the LED bulb equivalent is 3022. I just bought three of the exact same kind for my interior. The dome and both map lights all take the same bulb. Here's a direct link to useable bulbs for your year:

    http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Ffestoon.html

I chose the cool white LED Festoon Bulbs (not the high power ones, the ones that look strangely like lego pieces). Click on the 3022 tab. I recommend the 3022 x9 since you get more LEDs. My friend has the same type in his '07. They look great!

See my post above if you're still looking. These bulbs will work on yours too.

Is this true with all LED's? If so, that sucks. The only time I need lots of light is when the truck is off and I'm leaning in to find something.

No this isn't true of all of them. I haven't had this issue, nor has my friend. Maybe using the high power ones draws more power which causes them to be dull. The ones we use didn't have that problem and the thread (which I'll have to find) that I originally found the mod on didn't report that problem either.

^Cool thanks, guess I'll give this LED thing a chance now.

If I could just figure out how to tie my map lights in with my dome light (all lights on when door open), I would be soooo happy!
