I got this 4kg tank and the bottom ring that is welded on has a flat section and therefore is not round.

Is this normal? From a structural stand point I would think it should be round :bananadead:. Should I return/exchange?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Some idiot dropped it at some time. But the bottom ring is just so it won't fall over. It doesn't effect the structural integrity of the tank. But, anytime you pick up a propane bottle check the certification date. I've come across them that were years out of compliance. The companies that fill these thing really don't want to spend the money to hydrotest them.

Shouldn't matter as long as it stands, which I'm guessing it does. You'll get a different one when you exchange.

Thanks. This is a 4 kg tank so I do not think that there is an exchange.

In that case if I were gonna be refilling it and keeping it for life I’d probably return it. It really doesn’t matter and I don’t mind things being damaged as long as I did it myself.

Totally agree. I am fine with the damage. But if I am keeping it indefinitely and I can exchange it for one without damage (Wal-Mart) why not.

    It looks purely cosmetic.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
Just tap it a few times with a hammer to round it out and move on. I wouldn't drive back to the store for that.

OP Where do you live that you can`t swap tanks ??

Just curious the only time I don`t swap tanks is when the vendor does not have any filled .

    Then I have 30 40 and 100 pound tanks all that I own .

    He's said that it's a (4kg) then a (5kg) tank.. that's an 9 or 11 pound tank .. likely "diposable"

Paperwork below, and slightly out of focus says 4.9 kg. Granted I don't use all that many propane tanks, but when I need a new one I go to the local Home Deport and swap it out for a full one. The company, Blue Rhino picks them up when it drops off filled ones then refills it. You never really know what hell they have been through. It's a good idea to pull the thread protector off when giving the valve assemble a really good inspection.

My bad, the tank has "TW: 8.8 LBS T: 4.0 kg" stamped on it. But its a 5 lb propane cylinder from "Flame King."
