Sorry in advance for the dumb question.

    2016 TRD OR here

My previous car was sports sedan, RWD with LSD (mechanical) . If I got a flat on the rear, I was advised not to put the smaller spare in the rear cause the size difference would fry my LSD.

Today, I got a rear flat (nail) in the Taco. Slapped on my spare. My tires are worn (2/32th), but my spare is practically new (14/32th?). Could this small difference potentially harm my diff? Or in the future, if I increase tire size without increase spare size?

I want to drive with my spare until black Friday, when I'll replace my tires (at 25K miles...)

If the spare and the flat are the same TRA (Tire and Rim Association) size designation there will be no problem...

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
You have an electrical LSD controlled by the brakes and not mechanical clutches. You're fine.

Yes but the sport has electronic LSD that will correct with the brakes. Granted it won't affect the diff but you can't just mismatch wheel sizes on the rear.

The small difference you are talking about wouldn't even hurt a real LSD (ie clutch pack). The LSD on the tacoma is electronic and simply an extension of the ABS system, won't hurt it one bit, even with the rear locker on.

As to your other question, yes get 5 new tires of the same diameter if you are changing the overall diameter, width and profile are irreverent. So to make the spare not hangdown if going for larger overall diameter and width, you could get a tire with narrower width but larger profile (number). Ie spare 265/65/16 and 285/60/16 for others. That would be fine since the overall diameter is 31" for both. Having 2 different diameter tires on the rear axle when you use the locker will cause you some problems.
