Dunlop AT 20 vs. Michellin LTX AT 2...

Hi guys I hope I'm not asking a stupid question here but, I was just wondering if I'll notice a little difference visually with the Michellin LTX AT 2's versus my stock Dunlops even though they are both 245/75/16's? Thanks!

Ok thanks! So that's great! Now I'm very happy knowing I'll notice a difference and it'll atleast look a little bigger than what's on there now!

 

I ran LTX's on my last Taco and they were great. Each set lasted me 100,000 miles. I've heard the new one aren't (mileage wise) as good as the old ones were but they are still a great tire.

 

When my Michellins come in I'll have to take some before and after pics of the Dunlops to Michellins incase someone else like me wondered about a difference.

 

Are you putting RWL in or out? I plan on getting the LTX AT2's soon and I'm on the fence. Leaning towards putting them out. Keeping it stock (265/70/16).

 

I'm definatley putting the RWL on the inside. And I'm keeping mine at the stock 245/75's too.

 

I just put BFG T/A's on my Tundra and they're not cheap. I use that to tow my TT. Tacoma pulls small utility trailer and buddy's bass boat now. I put the letters in on my Tundra, but going for different look on the Tacoma.

You have stock aluminum TRD wheels on your Pre-runner? I thought the steel wheels had 245's?

 

I do have the TRD aluminum wheels on my prerunner not the steelies. Stock tire on mine was the Dunlop AT 20 245/75's.

I'm getting LTX AT2 as well the only problem is they are on nationwide backorder (265/70/16)!!!!! I even called michellin directly and they said they don't even have a ETA to when would they astart producing them again.

 

Wow ain't that something?! I can't believe they can't even give you a date for when it'll be available again. You could always go to 245's, maybe?

 

Yeah that blows!!! I think I might just go with the MS2 I heard nothing but good things about them.

I found they are great in the rain and dry, and only ok in the snow. I was thinking Discover AT3 for my next set.

 

Anyone has pictures of MS2s on a 1st gen taco??

 

Finally got the Michellin LTX AT 2's installed today and I love them! Call me crazy or is it my imagination but the feel of the truck is different now, seems smoother? And the steering definatley has a lighter feel to it! I don't feel like I'm "heavy" so to speak! Weird but I'm loving it!

Think long and hard about the Cooper AT3... They aren't spectacular in the snow either and I had issues with trying to get mine to wear evenly. They also got loud as they aged. I believe the Michelin AT2 is a far better tire in all weather conditions. I've been very impressed with mine this past winter and, as you know, we got hit hard with snow.
