Thanks for the tips. I'm interested in blacking out my badges. Plastidip is a LOT cheaper than some of the other options.

It’s tough mod to beat for $7 a can and you won’t even go through one for all the emblems. Changes the whole trucks look completely...

I'm too OCD for the plastiderp. I've used it successfully on some things but it will never be perfect and you have to be content with some level of ghetto. On the emblems it's nearly impossible to get clean lines around letters of the emblems and avoid any ragged edges. It was a no go for me on my truck. It looks great from 5 feet away. It does last, though, and it's pretty durable. Definitely worth a shot for the price to see if you're ok with the outcome on your truck. I've had the tailgate letters for a while no with no issues.

I have the OEM blackout overlays to be delivered for my new Cement Off-Road, but am having 2nd thoughts about using them. How easy is it to remove them (without damage to emblems) once they are installed?

They will look great on your truck, they are held in place with double sided tape so removal would not be too big of a deal.

Just ordered the OEM black badge overlay pack and tailgate inserts from my dealer tonight. Wasn’t cheap ($180), but I’m using my share of the tax return to do it. I am an OEM whore for sure.

Plasti-dip looks ok if u lay it on right. I had “fader” stripes on my Jeep that matched my mustangs for years with no problems.

Thanks, I kinda miss it but the taco is much more practical. 2 door jeeps aren’t the best for hauling 2 kids around.

Just got my overlays from the dealer today. I was surprised at how easy they were to install. Took longer to clean the chrome badges and recesses than anything else. They fit over the chrome like a glove, and look good installed I think. For whatever reason, I expected something more substantial. Hope they last.

I swapped the chrome for black badges off Ebay.

How easy or difficult was it to remove the factory chrome badges?

I think I’d like to remove the chrome badges and replace them with black ones sold everywhere. But I have no idea how difficult it will be to remove the factory badges.

Depends on how old the truck is, on a brand new 19 Very easy. Mine came off with a piece of fishing braid. Just ran it behind them and used it like a sawing motion and cut the glue. Glue just peeled off sorta easy like.

That’s why I went with the covers. They look like solid badges, and I didn’t have to take off the OE chrome.

Yep, that's how I did it on my 2016. It wasnt bad at all.

Warming with a heat gun or hair dryer on low for a little helps make the glue more pliable as well.

Within a month of ownership I removed the badges using dental floss wire and my fingernails to peel the glue or whatever it is. I then used some liquid, forgot which kind, to remove the left over glue or whatever it is. No scratches, looks like the badges were never there.

Recently removed the chrome badges (hairdryer and fishing line) and replaced with matte black badges purchased off eBay. I must have purchased just in time as the price has doubled.
