Duramax vs tundra vs tacoma

    While the EPA is generally optimistic with gassers, their numbers are often conservative with diesels. My TDI passat was rated at 32/43. My combined average over 20k miles was 46.7. Point being, I wouldn't trust the EPA numbers. Seems there are plenty of people on fuelly that are averaging 25-30.

    TRD cold air intake, Bilstein 5100's @ 2.5, Toytec 1.5" aal w/rear bilsteins. MBRP tip, Flowmaster Delta Flow 50 series, Toytec axle shims and carrier bearing drop.
    I have larger wheels and tires on the duramax. 275/70r18 toyo mt which are heavy so that's not helping me.

    I've had a '08 DC and an '11 Crewmax Tundra, and I currently have a '13 DC Tacoma. And with your situation I'd vote Crewmax. The DC tacoma definitely has the least rear seat room out of the three. And the tacoma isnt much better on gas than the Tundra's were, plus I have to run 93 octane in the tacoma to keep it from knocking, so fuel savings is almost a wash there.

    Either way, there is no need to trade in a paid for diesel for one that would require payments. Wouldn't be saving ANY money then. That is the point I am trying to make. Not everyone drives the same, thus the reason for the EPA numbers. Perfect example, my brother-in-law used to have a Cadillac. He averaged about 22MPG. When I borrowed it for a couple of months I averaged 28MPG. More than the EPA rating for it. 90% of your fuel economy numbers is based on HOW a person drives.
