Duratrac street psi (load E)

Got the duratracs a few weeks ago, and i love them. Handles well on pavement and feels planted on the forest roads.
I used to run about 18 mph as a daily driver with about 75 percent of the commute on freeways.
After the tire upgrade (265/75r16) im running about 17 mpg.

TO those who have or had the e loads, what psi do you run them on the streets?
Im currently at 38

Don't have the same tires, but have E load tires in the same size.

Mine are around 33-35 depending on the temperature

28 front, 26 rear when cold. 30/28 warm. for Cooper STMaxx 265/65-17. are you guys all on Duratracs? i cannot possibly run pressures like that and live with it on these tires.

Identical pressures to my C-range grabber X3's...

 

General Grabber AT2's. Low to mid 30's for me feels right, not uncomfortable and rolls well on the highway.

I don't care much for the chalk test.
It'll give a good unladen and somewhat static psi; not much use to me.

 

34 psi in my duratracs.

 

PSI is a means to an end, and that is total volume of air required to carry a certain weight. Your tire volume is smaller than that of a LT/265/75/16, therefore your psi will be greater; all other things being equal.
If you were to inflate your tires to the engineered dynamic and laden load requirement, you would be at 41 psi.

 

17' DCSB OR, stock susp., general grabber at2 255/75-16 E, I run them at about 39 psi, any higher and the truck is too bouncy, still seems like a pretty soft ride overall at 39 psi.

 

Just for an example my 02DC Pre Runner is running Toyo load range E Open Country MT 265 / 75 16 Tires. I had them installed at a well known off road shop in the IE of Socal .they set my air press at 28 psi . This is 20psi less than rated max air press for this tire

 

MMid 30's does feel like the sweet spot. I had it over 41 last week and the ride felt bad (somewhat more noticeable) .
I also read somewhere that since the duratracs only have 2 ply sidewalls on the e load, there's still a risk to the sidewall when running them at low pressure.
Love these tires though. Droce the truck over some questionably sharp rocks without issues.

And as for vehicle differences, id like to think we're all talking about our tacomas (with maybe a few weight differences for mods)

 

Chalk test won't show the lower limit. i.e. you'll get similar results at 30 psi vs 25 psi.

 

I ran 29psi on my 265 75 r16, had great wear.

 

How was your mpg affected running at this psi?
