I'm considering these two choices to replace my stock tires as I approach 45k miles. 90% of my driving is on the road but my goals are:
    • A better looking tire
    • Not sacrificing too much MPG
    Duratracs in C are 45lbs
STT Pro in D are 54lbs

Which would you get? And why?

edit: had the wrong specs, updated my question.

When you do off road are you dealing with rocks? If so, avoid duratracs. They lack sidewall strength, feel unstable on the road, and also got quite loud after a number of miles. After my experience with them, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone for any type of duty. Just an overall shit tire, IMO...especially the c-rated tire (though they did do pretty good in snow). Sidewalls you could push a dull pencil through. No experience with e-rated duratracs. Don't wanna hurt the feelers of anyone running them, but there are just so many other better options out there.

STT Pro seems pretty aggressive for a mostly street tire. Have you looked at the ST Maxx? That's what I went with after the DT's failed so miserably and I was looking for a similar design tire (compromise between an AT and MT). I don't drive the truck a great deal, but so far with 2 years and 16k miles on them, I have zero complaints. And they are tough. When it comes time to replace them, I'll be going back with the same tire. Tough as nails, pretty damn quiet for as aggressive as they are, wear good, good handling on wet pavement and in the dirt. No snow duty yet on these. But they do ride pretty stiff. Only complaint I have on them, but I put up with it because they do so well in every other area.

Both of the coopers will run stiffer for on road. But better sidewall strength and puncture resistance for off road use.

    Go for the duratrac's

I use mine for some pretty good off roading... Just the p size is fine..

I'm pretty sure if you compare their "265/75R16" to the C rated "LT265/75R16".... The standard load tire has more carrying cap..

    Anyways.. I'm happy with mine..

I have been very happy with my Duratrac in that size over the past 19000 miles. I've never noticed the on road instability a few people have mentioned. Never had issues with the sidewall either, but I'm also not trying to rock crawl. They have done great in Texas clay mud and Arkansas gumbo.

I got the duratracs... no issues here. In fact, once these wear out, I'll get them again. They are the most aggressive P -rated tire I found in the size I need

I went with the Duratrac in C load after stock. Haven't ever tried the STT Pros, but I have liked the duratracs so far. Would like to put some more trails and miles on them before backing them 100%, but no buyers remorse. I'm looking forward to having them come this next winter.

If your only goals are “A better looking tire” & “Not sacrificing too much MPG”, you should probably get Duratracs.
I’ve never owned them, but know a few people who have them and seem like them.

I went with STT Pros. Even though my truck is driven 90% on the road, I want something that works well on the weekends when we’re off road. The ATs I had before weren’t worth a shit.
Also, I don’t give a shit about MPGs. Lol
I’ve been really happy with the Coopers though. When it’s time to replace these, I’ll be getting the same thing.

If your goal is a good looking tire and don’t see your self needing a mud terrain then look to the cooper at3 XLT. It has an aggressive sidewall like the mud terrain tires but won’t come at a penalty to road noise, mpgs, and road manners.

The limitations of C load surpass the capabilities of these trucks. You’re completely fine with C load.

Get E load if you plan to frequently air down off-road in rocky and chunky areas

Good year has another tire that is sold only through discount tires it’s the GOODYEAR
WRANGLER ULTRATERRAIN AT. It’s very similar to the Wildpeaks.
If you do a search here on them there is a whole thread on them with tons of pictures. I think I’m going to try them when my KO2’s wear out.

    Workin' on it....
40k miles on Duratracs, no problems or failures.

I’ll try something else next time just for something different (maybe a MT) but I can’t really say anything bad about the Duratracs.
