My experience is that all tires get louder. They start to cup or feather, especially the more aggressive tires, and cause more road noise.

depends on how hard your drive it.. off-road.. stop and go traffic.. tires will last a long time if you never drive on them..IMO I wouldn't worry about it that much..unless you are tryin to drive by your ex-g/f house and stalking..:spy:

Cupping is when the tread blocks don't wear evenly. For some reason ( various reasons) they wear like a saw tooth where the leading edge of the tread block wears down more than the trailing edge, causing an uneven surface that " flaps" on the road as it rotates causing more noise.
Keeping your alignment good, shocks good, tire pressure good etc. you can somewhat prevent it, but it is still going to happen.

My Duratracs sound the same after one year and 8k miles.

I was suprised at the lack of road noise when I put mine on. I don't even notice it at 6k later.

I got rid of my Duratracs as soon as I could! They were LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!! I rotated and balanced them every 5k miles and did not help! Looked great but sucking the gas down and noise level weren't worth it to me!
