Yup. I was talking that I would have needed to of done a little more planning on my end. I’d also like to get my wife involved a little more, since she loves the outdoors. Right now I’m working a bunch, so free time is at a minimum... and I definitely would not go without her.

Also, I’ve parked the truck until I finish my CMC so that I don’t mess up the front tires. Just driving the truck home resulted in some minor scratching of the treads. I want to avoid anything worse at the moment. I’ll be checking in here for some local trail action to get the rig tested in the near future!

Vinton County was a blast. I went with a Jeep buddy, and he was totally impressed with how the truck did. I was going anywhere he went... even if I probably shouldn’t have!

I will admit though... I did make a serious rookie mistake. I never got the truck into 4lo, and just heard beeping whenever it was selected. I looked it up after getting out of the woods to find out the proper way to engage 4lo. Therefore... I will not be sharing any embarrassing beeping video!

Ok... after installing a full fox 3" lift with Dakkar MED leaf springs, I have determined that I don't have enough droop for the terrain I'd like to handle. I know removing my front sway will allow additional articulation, but I'm not so sure that's going to be enough. On my last trip out, I did A LOT of 3-wheeling! Any recommendations on the next steps to gain travel?

Try the sway bar first. Helps more than you'll think.

I’ve got the roof trim all cut and everything test threaded. Now who wants to come help me heave this thing up on the truck?

So SDHQ has been my nemesis. Since I’ve been spending a bunch of time in Phoenix for work I continue to frequent their shop... this week I picked up a new Switch-pro 9100 to help power up the roof light bar, my new ditch lights (picked up at the overland expo from Rago Fab in Flagstaff!), my future rock lights, bed work lights and whatever the hell else I want to hook to the remaining buttons.

Also.... I have a confession to make. I have been renting A Jeep whenever possible and finding off road trails all around Phoenix, Sedona, and Flagstaff to explore on my evenings and weekends...

    Need moar Offroad!!!

Well folks... it was a good weekend. Other than the crazy hot / humid weather I got serious about the truck. Just placed an order for the front and rear plate bumpers from CBI. Went with the MOAB 2.0 with a LP center hoop for the front, and the Bushmaster (high-clearance) dual swinger for the rear. I am so stoked!

Also, for good measure... since the wife and I are going up to NE in a couple weeks, we decided to buy an RTT! It’s getting crazy! After doing a bunch of research, we decided on the 23Zero Walkabout 56, and Coolabah 55” awning, along with the Mobtown LP bed bars. I’m going to see if I can modify my side rails for the bedcover to accommodate both the bars and and the cover. The mobtown bars seemed like they would lend themself best to this task. It should also be mentioned that some of selections made were also based on availability. Since we leave in just over 2-weeks, availability played a factor in our selection.

My concern now is that the bed of truck is going to sag... I currently have the Dakar Medium Duty Leafs (EL095R) and wonder what the extra weight is going to do to them. I may need to come up with something quick... Thoughts?

Completed the initial gear oil change Post gear swap. I went with 4.56 gears about two months ago and love them. But I still wonder if I should have gone with 4.88...

I finished the rear diff last night. The gear oil was really dark and a decent amount of metal goo on the magnet.

Planning to change the gear oil in the front diff and transfer case tonight. Then it's back on the road for work until Friday. Then hopefully this weekend I will get my Switchpro, bed bars, and RTT installed.
