What the heck, man. Just a bunch of dumb guys (the gender neutral version) talking about trucks. Sorry if you are prickly about your purchase.

Unfortunately, on Auto the headlights and the taillights go off at a certain brightness. The brightness does not necessarily correlate with the weather conditions e.g. rain and fog. Therefore I leave the lights on ON to ensure that I do not only have the DLR in the front but also the taillights on in crappy weather. May help to be recognized from following vehicles before they hit you.
They turn off automatically when I lock the vehicle +30 sec. So no issues with the battery drain.

It always seems like people want what they don't have. I posted I got exactly what I wanted.

I'm one of those people that wants what they don't have. ;) Our 2020 OR Taco has the high beam sensor, but not auto-headlights. First vehicle I've had in a dozen years or more that didn't have that feature. Do any of the experts here know if a retrofit possible? Searched and didn't find anything, but could have missed it.

When I replaced the tweeters (DS18s) I found the connector for the light sensor on the passenger side so that part of the wiring is there. Just wondering if the combination switch (steering wheel stalk) connector has the wiring as well and if installing the sensor and replacing the stalk would work. Guessing there's more to it, but if not...

    TIA!

Trade for a Canadian one. I'm pretty sure all our Toyotas have all had auto headlights since at least 2029, if not longer.

I just reach for the stalk with my left hand and turn my lights on when I need them. It’s pretty simple actually…

    Auto headlights pro tip:

When you’re cruising along on a nice sunny day and your head unit goes into nighttime mode and goes dim…

tell whoever is in the passenger seat to “take that off the dash”
