    aight so i know it can be done.
    how can i take what i record on my dvr and get it on my laptop?

    I don't believe it's possible on a Comcast DVR since they disable alot of the ports. I believe it's possible on TiVo though. Also, it's much easier to either download the program or use Windows Media Center if you have it.

    I remember reading a little while back that the firewire port on the comcast motorola DVRs works...so if you have a firewire port on your computer...hook it to that and capture.

    this doesnt really pertain to it. but its a nifty trick to see your DVR box status.

    I saw this when a tech did it a few months ago :D. Push and hold "Select" until a message icon appears on the front screen, then push info. (all on the box, not the remote)

    I have Charter. i wasnt sure if i would have to have something special to do it?
