As previously said, Moab a s looking good (rain/light snow may happen in the next few days tho).

I’m at Zion Natl Patk In SW Utah. I can help out with most details from Bryce Canyon to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon.

    Don’t hesitate to reach out.

Much love to you and the pup!

Yellowstone is mostly closed right now. Spring plowing has begun so all snowmobile/snowcoach trips are done. No personal vehicles allowed except for the very northern section of the park. You can get in at Gardiner/Mammoth and drive through the northern section to Cooke City and back out. Mammoth Campground is open, should be pretty quiet so no trouble getting a spot. There are a couple of BLM and fishing access sites north of the park as well for camping along the Yellowstone River and Highway 89. It will be cold at night - below freezing.
For other camping in MT if you do make it to the Helena area there are several campgrounds around Canyon Ferry Reservoir just SE of town that stay open all year. Most on the east side of the Reservoir. It will be snowy and icy but if you want a free place to sleep that's your best bet. There will likely be some folks there during the day to ice fish but they'll clear out at night. Outhouses could be questionable. They get used and rarely cleaned this time of year.
Check out the Montana State Parks for camping as well. Most stay open year round.
Lots of snow on the route between MT and ID so don't plan on any side excursions there.
And in UT some of the parks will not allow you in with the dog in the car. Arches in particular. Call ahead and see what the regulations are in regards to pets at each of the parks. The main worry is heat stroke if you were to leave the animals in the car while you're out exploring. State Park rules are different too at each site but generally more relaxed. You'll pass Green River, Dead Horse Point on the way to Moab, check them out.

I just wanna full stop for a minute and admit this is pretty impressive for a guy like me that needs hard checkpoints, and a plan. My head would explode trying to do that!

OP, you are one hell of a dog owner!!! We have 6 dogs right now and have lost quite a few in the past. It's never easy but I think this is just an amazing task you are doing for your buddy! Also as suggested get the dog CBD oil to help with the pain. I have a 16 year old def/blind/arthritis dog that wasn't doing too good and we thought it might be time. Got her on CBD oil (No THC) and pills to help her joints out. She's doing great, moves awesome and we aren't even thinking about sending her off to the rainbow bridge anymore. Just night and day difference, hope it can help your fur baby.

    Safe Travels!

Edit: Also as it's been said, check out the AZBS thread. We are scattered all over and most of us are dog people. I know that anyone in the AZBS thread will be willing to lend a hand where they can.

Being close to Great Danes my self. (My sister has 3 currently, a member here has 2 of her puppies and I'm waiting for the next litter for one of my own) I'm sorry to see you will be saying good bye....However, The Arizona group is almost all dog people, those who aren't sure understand. We are spread from the northern parts of flagstaff and Williams all the way down south to Tucson. Let the AZBS thread know if you're going to be that way and have any questions.

Sedona is Beautiful, not a bad place to stay in the whole place. Close to Jerome and a short drive from Prescott(1.5 hours-ish) Check out the lakes in Prescott with pretty impressive scenery. Sedona is red rock and pine trees kind of all mixed into one. Bearizona is cool in flagstaff.

I'm going to MOAB next week(3-29 to 4-2) to do some good wheeling. If youre there that night maybe we can get dinner and get that pup a nice treat on us. PM me if you need anything, it goes to my phone.

Sorry, I wish I had the chance to reply to everyone, but I do want to thank you all for taking the time to reply. We’ve been pretty much full steam ahead since Friday and the roaming services are spotty at best.

We hit the road as planned on Friday. Did close to 1000kms (600 miles) and ended up south of Helena at a free year round campground.

This happened on the way. Yes it’s kilometers but still...

It was a chilly first night, but we managed.

Day 2 we pushed hard to get as far south as possible hoping for some warmer conditions. We made some stops in Butte and Idaho Falls and ended up spending the night in a Walmart outside SLC.

    The sleeping conditions.

Today we made it to Moab, opted for a motel as we had spent pretty much 48 plus straight hours in the 4Runner.

We had a great day today, explored the Gemini Bridges and Dead Horse Point. Photos to come!

Okay, that is going to drive me nuts. Why on earth did you not go to AZ at any point in 16 months? That's insane.

This is hilarious. I appreciate the call-out and I agree 100%. SO MUCH room for activities there.

This map is only from our time strictly living in our truck. We have done many southwest trips over the years while living in Colorado, Utah, and California with the camper, but didn't want to just put everywhere we've traveled on the map, as it didn't track our movement for this one consecutive trip.

Did you use a timer on #6 or is your dog good at photography? Heated blankets also work well under you and don't move around as much. I like the funny faces. We ended up returning some ashes to our dogs favorite places, more crying but some closure too.

A few more, we ventured around Hurrah Pass, made it too the pass but didn’t go any further, then we camped at Willows Springs.

Today we spent some time at Arches National Park before making our way to Page, Az.

Not really sure where we are heading from here, maybe the Grand Canyon and then off to Nevada.
