I guess Im just used to my old 89 v6 that was quiet and hummed like no other.

It’s good to listen to some engine noise since it acts as an early warning system for impending engine problems. Jap engines are normally quiet and so is the Taco. At higher speeds, wind noise drowns out the engine noise so why worry?
