This is like the third time someone has posted this in response to one of my questions. Still haven’t read it thoroughly :anonymous:.

I've been trying to come up with a way to record it.T problem is, visually, i don't know that it can be captured.

The best visual was my wife's "oh wow"

Im happy with it unplugged honestly, i work two jobs, it's tough to go to the dealership.

I work full time as an industrial maintenance mechanic and run my own appliance repair business.

I could either make money in my free time or deal with the dealership.

    I choose money

Can someone post a pic of the connector to the ACIS? I want to disconnect mine now.

And then I’ll get off this hijack...

Can't blame you in the least.

Almost as if the ACIS itself is malfunctioning.

It's buried in the what did you do to your truck thread.

On the back of the engine near the heater hoses. It's the two wire plug. One blue and one white wire

    Access from the drivers side

Mine surges like that below 2k. Brought it in multiple times to multiple dealerships. Was told it was normal, and, laughably, to never upshift below 3k.

junk factory tune - though, annoyingly, it does it to a lesser extent with OVtune too. Shit motor i guess

    Have you guys done ADM?

It's not happening to every engine so "shit motor" - what does that mean?

Well, i brought it in to multiple dealerships and was told the dramatic surging around 1500rpm was normal. Something i’ve not experienced in any other vehicle, manual or otherwise. So, shit motor

Man I would be in direct contact with Toyota if it was my truck. It's not normal. It only happens to a selected few.

Welcome to an engine that switches between Atkinson and otto cycles. You can research yourself why 99.99% of ALL automotive internal combustion engines are otto cycle despite the Atkinson cycle existing since the 1880s. Because its fucking garbage. Thank the EPA for toyota having to grasp at any straw they could to kowtow to the authoritarian liberals in cali and their rediculous emissions standards. As it stands in 2019, no tech exists without the use of a turbo that could really make a NA 3.5L V configuration engine any more damn efficient than it already is without SACRIFICING something. Now we're left with an engine more concerned about shipping gas with its pinky in the air than making reliable and consistent power. Already stated before, its electronically controlled and can be tuned to only operate in the otto cycle if someone would take the time to do so.....cough matt....

Ran into a similar issue when I ran with the 370z crowd. When most of us that had a brain chose to go TT, we would remove that ASININE vvel system that is used on the 3.7, and instead go with a head off the 350Z which didnt use that. Because tuning it with the vvel system was hard mode. Again, technological progress for the sake of emissions getting in the way of performance. In a SPORTS car no less.

Just spent my evening reading that, while handing out candy. Very well written. The technical writer Toyota hired to make that document was gifted. Clearly explained.

Not yet. If my clutch still hasn't settled in by 1500 rpm then i guess I'll be replacing it very soon.

I do plan on doing this.

As far as ovtune goes, i plan on waiting until he reopens, well because i have to. I also plan to wait for 2.0 to be final and see some feedback.

    I watch the ovtune thread.

I only did this little mod when i saw the op post it and i got curious. After i did it i was overly happy on my drive to work. It's insane the difference it made.

If i can get this smooth with ovtune, but get the benefits of all the power I'll be giddy.

Are we speaking of the ruh-ruh-ruh-ruh "surge" you get if you 1-2 and end up below 2000?
This will happen to me occasionally on the stock tune, and is much more pronounced when the engine is not up to temp it seems.

There is also stuttering (short hesitations in quick succession - feels like a miss) in the 1500-2000 rpm range when cruising in 5-6 with anything more than light load. My '16 did this and now my '19 does the same thing. The good news is that the last OVT 2.0 Beta I was able to test on 04B13 didn't do these things. Smooth power delivery and no surge at 3500.
I have not tried disconnecting the ACIS plug, as OVtune is implementing tuning for that in 2.0.
