I have a 2020 tacoma and today my e brake started dragging, I can feel it while I'm driving that it isn't disengaging. I also once had one wheel lock up before when off roading. Had to lock the diff to break it loose. Anyone else have this issue and know how to fix it? My e brake is still dragging and I'm worried it's going to cause a lot of wear or catch on fire worst case

Most likely your e brake cable is stretched.
Its attached to the the leaf pack on the driverside, via a bracket.

The e-brake and the rear brakes in general are finicky. I’ve had my rear brakes seize up multiple times after being exposed to water off road and at the car wash. I haven’t encountered the drag you are describing though.

Did you was the truck recently and let it sit after?

In one case after the car wash yes, but I drove it a mile before I parked it in the garage. Other times it happened after driving through semi deep muddy water and then applying the e-brake.

He's not the only one with rear brake issues. I've chased down poor mpg, mild vibration and such to my rear brakes. Can tell when it's happening too. Feels like something is holding the truck back.

I've used my e-brake a total of 5 times maybe in the 5500k I've put on mine. 2 of which was yesterday. I had the problem yesterday morning before taking kayaks out and using e-brake on boat ramp. Jacked rear end up and had drag in both sides, left more than right.

It's not in the cable, something is going on in the drum which I'm pulling apart this week. Get a look at mysf first then call the dealership.

I just my e brake every day because it's a manual. And it only has 17k miles so I don't think it's out of adjustment. The standard is holding on a slight hill at 2 clicks and i check that regularly.i think mud or dirt got in there

If there is no damage to the cable assemblies it sounds like time to let the dealer figure it out

It went away with driving for a bit. But still weird that it happened.

You assume it was adjusted correctly from the factory; maybe, maybe not. Mine weren't...
    It's 5-7 clicks for 45 ft-lbs of pull force.

Just had my rear drums replaced on my 21....apparently the factory doesn't always adjust the cable properly ‍♂️
