I have a 3.4 98, I just hit 281K and the E-brake cable sheered apart underneath the dash. It seems RockAuto has a good price for the cable but they have several different lengths. I'm guessing that is the 89in one but I just wanted to confirm?

take your old one and measure it, don't assume anything. if you want aftermarket stuff then its best to call them on the phone and discuss your specific truck to be sure your getting the right parts.

I feel an item like this is best to go with oem parts rather then aftermarket stuff, not to say anything bad about the rock but with certain things, you definitely don't want generic replacements for stuff and anything brake related you want higher quality parts and proper fitment of them.

also check everything related to the cables since if they break its often worn or improperly working parts that cause them to fray and break

I think you have changed my mind. I think I will go with OEM because the only time I ever use is when I load/unload Jet ski's

I don't remember where I bought mine, but it's a braided steel cable. There's no OEM magic there.

the "magic" isn't in the cable, its in the correct thickness, end connectors, and length.

I just looked. I bought mine at Rock Auto.

I called someone to get the length, but I don't remember if I called Rock Auto or a dealer. *Probably* I called Rock Auto. Typically, I buy from whoever helped me, unless the price difference is quite large. So, either I called the dealer and their price was crazy, or I called Rock Auto.

I'm going to have to shop around for a new Toyota dealer. If memory serves, the dealer by me wanted at least twice that. Everytime I go in there I feel like I've been robbed. Maybe that's why the counter guy wears a mask and has a gun . . .

Autozone also has them for the same price, but i figured get the one from toyota if they are the same price, i also got a new pin for the end of it that is under the cab, and a new spring clip for under the cab as both of those parts were very rusted. think they were around $2-4 each
