    this morning my brake light was stuck on... I dumbly backed up through the snow with the brake engaged and now I have no tension on the pull either...

    Coming back to this post after all these years, it doesn't seem like a lot of people address this problem when troubleshooting e-brake light issues. I have the same problem with my Tacoma and everything is in good shape, I spent a lot of time double checking everything only to find that the connecter doesn't make contact. No matter how far in I push the brake lever it won't go far enough to make contact, its as if something is blocking it inside the little tube. See image. Any idea how to fix this? I've thought to maybe extend the connector bolt on the switch, but surely there's an easier way?

    Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    That looks like you have a bad or stuck switch. There should be a plunger extending past the threads like this one.
