I can't find any for the 1st gen. Yotamasters has diff armor but doesn't fit elocker. Low Range has armor just for the elocker mechanism but not the whole diff. I'm picky and want to protect both with one unit. Any ideas?

If it were me, I would just get the back piece protector or make one yourself, like mentioned above the real vulnerable part of the carrier is the back of it. And the e-locker motor skid maybe. Since the motor is on the outside of the diff it's susceptible to the elements. I wouldn't worry about finding a skid that covers the entire diff though, it will just make your clearance there even lower than it already is.

They also make an actuator motor guard. I put on of them on it keeps me feeling warm and fuzzy, not sure how much protection it offers but it's gotta be better than nothing.

I modified the ruff stuff guard and burned it in. Took some cutting, bending, and chopping, but should offer some decent protection.

Make sure you drain the diff fluid after because you will cook it

You don't need one. The only thing you should get is rock slider.

I have the low-range e locker cover for sales if you interested. Was on my 2nd gen but was designed for the 1st gen.

People actually buy skids for those?

I can see a rear diff scraping, but that could be attributed to some user error if taking the wrong line.

Sometimes a line with a large rock is unavoidable. I like the strip on the back of the housing to prevent from backing up into a large boulder or something, that housing is pretty thin and if it gets dented the ring gear will hit it and destroy your gears.

That racing stripe makes sense, plenty of times have I backed up to give her the beans or situate myself differently.

But that motor is up there; I guess I can't see the need for the extra weight up there.

Like I said I don't think it offers much, but it gives me a warm and fuzzy to sleep better at night. It doesn't weigh much, only maybe 1/4 lb. It bolts to the existing hardware that the actuator uses which is on the differential studs so it's not like it's alot of weight hanging out there. I haven't seen a scratch on mine since it's been installed for a couple years though LOL

I bang up my control arm skids when hitting some rocky trails/obstacles, but that's because I'm intentionally putting my wheels over a rock.

The mounting points hang lower than the diff.

I used to have one of those "diff diapers" from boztec installed on mine and realized it was pointless because you end up losing about 1/2" of ground clearance at the lowest point on the truck. It actually hung me up more times than saved me from damage. I since sold that diff diaper and did the racing stripe/elocker guard and seems to be a better setup, I guess time will tell.
