Interesting.... What were your alignment specs? Could you post a pic of it?

Did your locker not engage prior to getting an alignment?

I don't know jack about motor vehicle mechanics my questions are intended to better understand them.

Thanks for the feedback man, yeah ever since I lifted and haven't had a decent alignment I never had to toggle with my locker and the "going back and forth" to engage.

    Not sure if serious....
    Maybe trolling...

But as said before... Your front end alignment has absolutely nothing todo with your rear end locker...

I'm talking about the rear too. Don't you think I realize now the front end has nothing to do with a rear locker?

You can't get an alignment in the rear as there are no adjustments on a leaf spring suspension...

If a shop is charging you for a rear-end alignment, start asking questions.

I was messing with a E-locker off a 04 Tacoma that I had just bought, It was owned by a chick and never used day in its life. Would never engage, So I pulled it off, Bench tested pulled off the cover to show the guts, used 12v and made the motor work both ways. Put the guys back together, Stopped working. After more head scratching and more taking it apart, I found out that screws that hold the main plate on if screwed in to tight will stop everything from working. I back the off just a bit and left them snug and worked like a champ.

    Tested everything else...
    Tested the electrical
    Tested the switch
Tested the Rear by lifting and manually engaging

Anyway that's my recent experience with a E-locker. Anyway OP you might want take it off and clean it and maybe loosen the screws a bit, might not have to turn so much to get it to lock. My 96 4Runner and 04 Tacoma lock after just a few feet in a straight line and have engaged them with no problems while off road on a obstacle.

As mentioned maybe a change in diff fluid (never hurts probably needs changing anyway) & make it a habit of engaging it on a routine basis, just so you know it does work..

Rear end alignment.... hate to inform the doubters but it does exist, try sheering an axlepin sometime, you'll be pulling your axle back into alignment if you want to drive it again... On to the front end alignment, has no bearing on Elocker ?? Think again, if you have ABS & the sensor in spindle gets knocked around (it happens) or cable gets pinched/seperated kiss Elocker goodbye, its not going to engage, in fact if offroading & somehow the banjo bolt on caliper gets a tiny bit loose (just enough to break seal) Elocker will drop out & wont return until correcting, ANY anomalie with brakes or ABS will take out Elocker for operation...

I think you're confusing issues here.

An alignment is not a standard service on a solid rear axle. If you sheared an axle pin, you broke something and it needs repairing. There are no "alignment" settings for the rear axle to play with. No cams to adjust toe, camber and caster. You replace the axle pin, straighten the frame, replace the shackles, do what you have to do to repair things but taking it to an alignment shop will just get them telling you that your thrust angle is off.

Your second item listed, again, is not standard part of an alignment. It is a malfunction of the braking system, as you pointed out in your last sentence. Having a leaking banjo bolt won't be fixed by getting the front end aligned. If the front end can get so out of alignment it interferes with the braking system, you have more worries than the e-locker not engaging. Hopefully, the tech would see it and bring it your attention.

Not confusing anything, I think you guys are, true, rear axle alignment isn't a "normal" proceedure but some here are saying there IS no alignment of it & thats incorrect, also its true that a normal, non eventful front alignment won't take out the locker, but as i said if someone gets careless about what they're doing & snags or pinches ABS cable in the course of alignment, the E locker signs off... That said, does the tech have any business fucking around in that area ?, no, but lets face it , sometimes odd ball shit happens , so you can take from this what you will, but I'll take my "far fetched confusing analogy" Over a bunch of guys giving the OP alot of crap for posting his issue as he interprets it...

I think the OP's original question was,"would new UCAs and an alignment fix an e-locker engagement problem?"

I think the answer is a resounding "no" with some responses less polite than others.
