    will the e locker center carrier I bought fit in the stock open diff axle housing?

    Only reason is that my truck currently has abs, and the e locker I bought came with the housing that has no abs. I would prefer to keep abs working and thought it might be a possibility to just swap the carrier. Does anyone know if this is possible? Couldn’t find a definitive answer, so hopefully this isn’t a duplicate post.

    It won’t bolt on I’ll tell you that. It requires extensive modification to the stock axle housing in order to use the e-locker pumpkin. You have to cut and weld some studs.

    @mechanicjon should know

    Or just buy a Harrop E-Locker for your open diff housing

    I read this and had to check. There was caps where the abs sensors would go. I didn’t think that the axles would have the tone rings on them if the truck didn’t come with abs. This might be easier than I thought.CFF4026A-99C2-4C39-8112-C452FE93F209.jpg5A20F250-7FD9-4E55-A70F-8F2FB60E124B.jpg

    That looks like it's wet in there. If that is the case the axle seal is leaking. Just swap the housing 3rd member and everything else to your truck.

    I ended up replacing the axle seals. Luckily Toyota had them in stock.

    Decided to take off work early today to knock out most of the install. Everything is bolted up and the brakes just needs to be bled once I can grab someone to help. Also, gotta get different e-brake cables and do the wiring up to the dash. Looking forward to a test run on Sunday.DE69A643-9D95-4E17-A67D-A249C1EAD20F.jpgA450CAB5-5E00-4EE5-90D6-98D1ACDF9296.jpgF06C1B66-2218-4770-9737-8FAAF067BCC9.jpg

    I am currently looking at the possibility of putting the e locker rear end in my 2001 PreRunner. Did you end up swapping the whole rear end or did you put the e lock 3rd member in your rear end? Also did the locker rear end make a big difference for you? I don’t do any real off road, just slipping through the hunting land. Thanks

    Try gravity bleeding if you have alot of time, I use a vacuum system I purchased from oriellys. It would be a good time to change out the brake fluid if it's dark colored.

    Your tacoma came with a 8.4 and you will need extensive modification to the centered to make the 8" elock to work. Won't be as easy as the older 8" centered found on pre-taco and 3rd gen 4R. Just buy a complete elock axle and swap the entire unit.
