So I have a 99 tacoma 4x4 (non-trd) and Im considering switching in a rear axle assembly from an 03 trd model. From all the research Ive done it appears the rear diff has its own computer in the drivers side kick panel that will need to be transferred over but all the wiring for it and the switch should be in place. My concern is I cant seem to find the empty connector for the diff button in my 99 nor can I find any open connectors for the new diff computer. Does the computer come with the switch connector or could it be in another location along with the computer's connectors?
    Any help is greatly appreciated

The E-lockers are cool (I have one), but if you're installing one aftermarket, IMO you might be better off getting an air locker. The ARBs are stonger, engage more quickly, and you don't have to futz around with factory wiring that may or may not be on your rig, and you have an excuse to install on-board air (lol).

I can make you an aftermarket harness that uses a rocker switch. No factory switch or controller needed.

Not all trucks were prewired for locker.

Thanks for all the input everybody.
It looks like I may need a new axle housing so an air locker doesnt really solve my problems but an excuse of on-board air would definitely be nice!
This seems to be the case. I was able to check a 2000 Tacoma 4x4 and it had both plugs for the computer and the switch so it seems some trucks just dont have it.
Awesome write up! that is exactly the information I have been looking for and I may end up having to go that route.
