Got quotted 1600$ for an e locker is this reasonable? Thx

idk what locker but for 900$ in parts id expect its a good one

 

Well i told him to give me a ballpark estimate and he said around 1400$-1600$

 

Probably worth getting more info, who’s the dude doing the work, has he ever messed with Toyota diffs, I don’t think there’s too many elocker brand things but still.

 

I don't know of an e-locker you can get for $900...unless he's talking about a used TRD e-locker, in which case they are going to have to swap the entire axle. I guess $1600 for that all-in isn't bad.

A brand new Harrop e-locker though is more than $900 and the labor would put it over $1600 I would think

Its a 4x4 shop they got lots of experience, not some back alley craigslist special

 

You can buy a used e-locker axle complete for probably less that 5 bills.

 

Ill pay the shop a visit this week would 2k$ be reasonable then,

Drop a $500 lunchbox Powertrax no slip and be done. You could do it yourself if you have some mechanical ability.

 

I heard nothing but bad things on those auto lockers as a daily

 

I've dailied mine as well as trailed it for 10 years and never even changed the clutch springs out.

Multiple 1200 mile round trip journies to Indiana and back. Atleast 30-40.

If you're hearing they are junk and not for daily use, I'm guessing that's from the people that want to sell you a $2000 e-locker.

No they didnt tell me that the peeps here in taco world told me auto lockers are dangerous as a daily

 

I use a lunchbox locker in my jeep. completely invisible until I need it. I would defenitely get the brand of e-locker before dumping that kind of money into it. Maybe even get a history of how many Tacoma axles they've done. not all 4x4 shops are created equal.
