There are other good tires out there as well, so if you want to go up a size don't let that limit you. I was just pointing out there is more to tire durability than just load rating. :)

I wanted the KO2s and to go up a size, but run in C load so I swapped to 17s to do so. Wouldn't be worth it to a lot of people, but I really care about driving dynamics so it was worth it to me.

Thank you, let me know what you would recommend as a good trail rated tire for the 265/75/16 size c rated of course. Unfortunately, with a 100 mile round trip commute, this stuff matters to me. Not enough to get a Prius though.

I don't know, why do you want a non-functional scoop on your hood? People have had them with great success, I am just trying to understand if it meets my need. Just sayin...

I have the KO2s in E load as well, I love them. They came on my truck so I can't say how much different the mileage would be with C or P rated tires, but with the KO2s and my supercharger I'm still averaging 17mpg which I think is pretty darn good considering.

If you do any moderate to heavy offroading, you'll love E rated tires...hardly have to worry about them. I've ridden them on all kinds of rocky terrain aired down to 15 psi and never had an issue. Road them at 8 psi in the sand dunes at Pismo and they were great there as well. One trail I did with a guy in a 3rd gen with the stock P rated tires and one of his went flat 15 minutes into our trip. I plan on sticking with E rated tires.

They don't make a c-rated tire in stock size either, at least not for 16in rims. I am having the same problem trying to figure out what tire to upgrade also. I want BFG KO2's bad but I know that E load is really overkill. I have thought about Duratrac in a C load but seem to read a lot about balancing issues with them. It is plain and simply hard to find a quality, good looking tire for a 16in rim that is not E load. Wildpeaks are a good looking tire but don't come in a white letter option. I want white letters out. I'm not sure what I will end up doing.

You should select your main wheel / tire package for how you use the vehicle 80% + of the time. Sounds like a all season P rated like a Michelin Defender would work well.

If you take planned off road trips that are worse than a graded or mild farm road, you might want something more. 2nd set of wheels, more aggressive tires. Install when planning an offroad adventure.

If you need true winter tires for winter adventure (like Blizzak or Nokian) then a 3rd set of wheels would be in order.

While I don't need winter tires in Florida, I've run street tires and race tires, often changing as much as once a week.

Tires are just a tool. Use the right tool for the task at hand.

C rated LT265/75/16 Duratracs come only in OWL now? I prefer black side wall, but only available in E.

There is no C rating for a 16 inch wheel.

TBH, I just love the look of the Ko2s. If they came like that in P I would be all over them.

I'm running 265/75/16 E rated KO2's on the stock wheels/suspension and saw maybe a 1mpg hit over the stock Goodyears. The ride is definitely stiffer, but I've been plenty happy with them overall. I have the MT so the gearing is a bit different and may show less of an MPG difference than the AT, but couldn't say for sure. I'm averaging around 17-18mpg in the driving I do around here with a mix of hilly stop and go commuting traffic, highway driving, and freeway driving.

I ran a 265/75 16 Hankook Dynapro for years in a 2011 TRD off-road. Never had a flat. Several trips to the desert with some rock crawling severe enough I scraped up the rims. Great traction and no issues. They are one of the lightest C-load all terrain out there. Did not notice a hit in MPG or power and this was a plus one tire. Made the truck look much better. Years ago, I ran a 32 inch BFG e-load in my 97 Tacoma. Awesome tire for off-road and they looked great but man they were heavy and I took a hit in MPG and power. I think those e-rated BFG are over 50lbs but not sure. C-Rated Hankooks are 39 lbs in the above size. Maybe on the 3rd gen it does not make as much a difference. I have no experience with the newest ones.

Your 3 choices for C rated AT tires in 265/75/16 are wangler duratracs, ko2s, and kelly safari tsr. Those are the only ones I've found and I've been looking! You will have to move up to a 17" wheel to have more C rated choices. C rated tires weigh less means better mpg, E rated are heavier 10 ply better for off road and heavy work truck. Good luck!

The key with the Hankooks is to keep them balanced and rotated every 5K - They are very quiet and great in snow, rain and dry with only slightly more noise from the tread. If they get cupped cause a lack of rotations they will get much louder but that was with a 2nd gen. They don't look as good as the BFG but they are much better than stock especially in a plus 1 combo.

I kept my stock OR tires on their rims and I have a set of TRD Pro wheels with Cooper ST/Maxx (265/70/17 E). The Coopers are my hunting/mud/snow and trail tires. The stockers are my long distance commute tires.

It's pretty easy to swap wheels with a floor jack and a good tire wrench. I swap them all out in less than 15-20 minutes.

Why don't you keep your stockers on and simply get a designated 'off road' set?
