E rating is overkill if you don't abuse your tires, as others mentioned. I was perfectly comfortable when I was running C rated tires. I wouldn't run a P rated tire, though.

Braking performance and acceleratoin will both be effected, as will fuel economy. Your ride quality will diminish to a degree (some feel it much more noticeably than others do) as the tire sidewall IS part of the suspension, as in a stiffer sidewall (E) will result in a stiffer feeling suspension as the extra sidewall plys will no longer let the tire absorb as much of a bump as a P/LT-C tire would.

For your uses a KO2 in E load is really not worth getting just so you can get a 265/75/16. You'd be better off (if that was your end game) selling your OEM wheels and tires and finding a 17" wheel you like (can be found for $120-200 each, or much more) and getting a 265/70/17 BFG KO2 in C rating. You'd have the same tire size as a 265/75/16, and have far more tire options with a 17" wheel down the road.

You could even pick up a set of 2016/2017 17" OEM wheels for probably $450. If you sold your current wheels/tires you'd probably get double that if you're patient, or lucky.

You have options, for sure, but there is really no benefit of an E rated tire that you'll see in your usage as listed.

I would consider getting new rims but my truck is a TRD Pro so I like the rims that are on the truck.

    Thanks for all the input

    (3) There is a downside: ride is harsher with E's. Hell, I notice a harsher ride going from P-metric to C's.

No one even mentioned to buy Michelins. The op stated that he drove 95 miles round trip to work. Why would anyone want a mud or all terrain tire. Michelin defender would e a wise choice also.

.. because OP is shopping for an all terrain with an aggressive tread, is my best guess.

All that aside, Michelin LTX is a great offroad tire and on road tire, but doesn't look at all like a KO or KO2.

I have been very happy with these tires in the P265/75-16 size.

When his head is up his ass so far, it's no wonder he doesn't approve of the smell.

@dcfbftmfw is correct, I was looking for an all terrain tire like I have now, plus the truck looks better with an all terrain. I will look at the Cooper AT3. I wanted a slightly taller tire also, that is why I am opting for the 265/75-16

I have the Cooper ATP which is essentially the same as the AT3 (just sold exclusively at Discount Tire), and I love it. Wearing fantastically and the tread looks and performs excellent.

The sidewalls are not nearly as aggressive looking as the KO2s, but that wasn't a problem for me. My previous tire was the Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10 (both in 265/75/16) and it was a pretty good looking tire, similar to the ATP/AT3 but with more aggressive sidewall lugs. I'd consider these an option also, they're both available in C load in that size as far as I know.

Worthless is kinda strong. Unnecessary maybe is a better way to put it. Load range E tires are beefy so you're unlikely to have to worry about them with road hazards. Last time I can remember cutting a sidewall was running BFG A/T KO in 30x9.50x15 on the old truck a way long time ago. Those were load range C and it happened on a construction site. But I do admit that I'm unusually tough on tires since I actually take my truck off pavement a lot, too. So I've come to like having them. They're also less squishy which is nice with softer suspension and no sway bar, so I actually prefer the ride.

Do you think a 265 75 16 will fit on stock truck with the mudflaps on? I still have the stock dunlops on mine and plan to replace them before next winter. Really like to leave the flaps on, black truck and all. Do they ride nice on the highway?
