i recently bought a used 3rz-n73. I assumed it was a 3rz-Fe because I had never even herd of a 3rz-n73. It's supposedly out of a 97 Tacoma 4x4 5speed. It's in great shape but I was going to use in a 22r to 3rz swap. The only thing I was wondering is how much deferent is the 3rz-n73 compared to the 3rz-Fe??? I can't find much on the motor, other then they only made a few and it's a rare motor

Is it the models with the old school distributor setup? Vrs the electronic ignition of the FE models.. thats prolly the difference.

I believe so, but it is still a 3RZ, just different ignition through the years.

It's just a revision marker guys, the FE part means fuel injected double cam, that's it. So it falls under the category of 3RZ-FE while being the N73 revision.

No prob, for what its worth you can convert the older distributor models to coils with a newer intake cam and vice versa if you change the head to an older one on the newer models.

Hey quick question, does your 3rz use a distributor and if so is it held on by 2 bolt or by 2 bolts and a nut?

Yeah, mine has a dizzy, I felt around the housing and it looks like the distributor is held to the head with 2 bolts, but there may be one under the cap too.

The problem I have is that the motor I got didnt come with a distributor. And the one I got from the parts store doesn't fit because of a bolt/stud that comes out of the head. When I got online I couldn't find any distributors for the 3rz with a 3rd hole for the bolt/stud. I'm not sure what do toimage.jpg
