    OME and worth every penny.
it's just the one at Wal-Mart. They usually fit 2 diff sizes filter. I don't have a phone that takes pictures so it's kind of an ordeal to post one.
Will say my ratchet is nice, offset w/ a swivel head but I think the shorty straight works also.

I didn't see it mentioned so I will give you a few of my tips. I actually worked changing oil on equipment for a while so here is what works for me.

#1 always oil the seals before installing the new filter (you probably know this already)

And now for the tools I use.
I have always had excellent results with the strap tools and the chain tools that go onto a ratchet. These are also excellent because they fit almost any size filter.

Here is one style that works well:
    https://www.zoro.com/westward-oil-filter-strap-wrench-nylon-45ff26/i/G3112396/

This one is similar to my favorite one:
    http://www.ultimategarage.com/shop/images/d149.jpg

These are great because you can use a ratchet and a variety of extensions to get up and into whatever crammed area is necessary.

When things got really ugly I would go for this tool but it requires good access.

I'm still trying to figure out how to upload photos but hopefully this works. Here are some pictures of my favorite filter wrench. I am a complete Westward hater and think they mostly make garbage yet this particular tool has been perfect. Its smaller than a new roll of electric tape so it fits in my portable tool box. This thing has uses beyond filters as it can grab onto all sorts of stuff. I think they stopped selling it but if you find one grab it. I've been using this thing lots for about 15 years. I bought lots of westward back then and most of it has failed or been replaced yet this thing goes with me everywhere.

This one fits the filter I have on the truck now. I have another one for a different size filter.

nice. You guys seem to got it going on :)
I'll see how much more I was tightening than necessary when I change the oil Saturday morning :)

That may be all I ever need

I have always had good luck with strap wrenches on tough to reach oil filters. Only used once on the taco. NEVER use a tool other than your hand to put on the filter.

    Strap tool looks like this:

funny thing is I have a hand turn small strap wrench that I was sure I brought home from work to use and looked for it up and down the other day. Well I didn't have the oil anyway as I thought I did and actually was just trying to break the seal on the filter to see how hard it would be. Well it was hard to come off and didn't get it break loose, ala making this thread lol. I'll change it this weekend

The oil filter on my 2.7l is behind the passenger wheel well rubber flaps (that protect the inner axle and transmission). I didn't have an oil filter wrench, so I used a pipe wrench pliers. It barely fit, but it worked surprisingly well for me to unloosen it and untighten it by hand. If you oil the gasket before you change the filter, you probably won't even need a wrench.

    @ekul310
I service two identical generators at work. The oil filter is a dumb design and it needs to be pretty tight to seal. I use a strap tool. Other than that I almost never use a tool to tighten but I have in cases where it's just to akward to do so by hand. You just gotta be reasonable and not crank on it.

Been changing oil on mine for years. Never needed a wrench or screwdriver. Just tighten it hand tight and be done with it. I too go through the drivers wheel well.

I'd be more interested in something to keep oil from dumping out all over and getting all up on my skids and dripping out on the floor even after I thought I cleaned it all up...

I've been using one of these with a 1/2 socket wrench with extension, very easy:

I use a big cup from McDonald's slid over the filter once it's broken loose...its pliable enough to grip and turn the filter to loosen it the rest of the way and then it just drops into the cup...much less mess

These are great! Used them, in various sizes, when I was working as a diesel mechanic.

I just use HF filter pliers and a 1/2 gallon milk jug with the top cut off to remove/catch the filter on my Tacoma.

I got a k&n for my atv and it has a 17mm I think it is on the end. It should work good to take it off next oil change.
