Hello TW. I'm preparing to check my compression (on my '03 Extra Cab Tacoma w/ the 3.4L V6), as I plan to check and adjust valve lash soon after and want some baseline compression values before I do so.

I've read that you can just depress the accelerator pedal to the floor during the compression test and this will inhibit fuel flow. In Timmy the Toolman's video this didn't seem to work. I've also heard you can disconnect power to the fuel pump if you have access to the top of the fuel tank (i.e. in a 4 Runner or maybe a double cab, underneath the rear driver side seat). In my truck that would mean lifting the bed or dropping the fuel tank.

I've also read you can simply pull the EFI fuse from the fuse box. Since this seems the easiest way to disable fuel flow, will this option definitively disable the fuel pump? And should I do so with the motor running, so as to burn off any residual fuel in the lines before preparing for compression testing?

EFI fuse will do the job.

With no pressure the injectors might fire for a few seconds

You don't need to disable the pump, just the injectors. EFI fuse is good enough for this.

That said, the "circuit opening relay" will stop the fuel pump.
