    :D

    I only kidding buddy.

I pick up my motor Monday. As long as all goes to plan I can get your future, ahem, father in law his stuff back next weekend. Does he want an engine load balancer? I bought one and won't need it. So he can have it as a thank you.

I got my replacement at Kragen I believe, it was 'new' and came with a lifetime warranty. The boots on it actually rub less than the stock boots, so that was nice. Seems ok, I would just paint the center rod, cause its not coated with the Toyota factory stuff. My replacement is rusting on the outside.

I dunno man. I'd go OME at all four corners plus upper-control-arms, vs. preemo coilovers in the front with stock UCAs and stock rear shocks. And it's not like you're "cutting corners" when you're using OME stuff.

Sorry, should have rephrased, I am buying the UCAs. Honestly I've never heard anything good about OME's ride. The only thought was getting a shock that won't preload the hell out of them. I think I'd rather just spend the money, I hear nothing but good stuff about Kings, SAWs etc.

There's nothing bad about OME, the bad part is when people pick the wrong spring rate for their setup. Those are the people who have "rough" rides. OME shocks do have a limited lifespan and are not rebuildable, but most people will sell their ride and move onto something else before they reach that point.

Personally, I'm not selling my truck. I could win the lotto tomorrow and I'd still keep it. I like the flexibiliy of revalving and rebuilding shocks specific to my driving style and habbits. You don't get that with OME. The bottom line is you should buy something that suits your driving/offroad style and habbits. OME are great daily driver/trail rig setups. Personally I needed something with a resevoir due to my offroad habbits. For me the biggest selling point on King over Fox was their customer service. I called them (pre customer) and they were the most helpful vendor I've ever spoken to on the phone. After I get my front bypasses installed I'll be doing a little road trip down there and they are going to help me tune my front and rear bypasses. Something to be said for that.

You won't go wrong with either setup as long as you do your research ahead of time.

Well, you tell me then, I want to be able to somewhat romp on my truck without worry of shit breaking, or stuffing my tires because I came down too hard at speed. Am I going to romp everyday, no.... at least not that I've planned yet... LoL If long travel was economical at this point I'd almost do it, the whole runnin through the desert at 60 mph shit is starting to interest me, far more than crawling on trails. I don't want my tires to stick out farther and have to get glassworks fenders though, so whatever the next best, and cheaper option is, I'll take it.

If you look at the video I posted 1 page back, that's done with Fox coilovers and TC UCA's up front. Fiberglass fenders are not needed for that setup (up front). I do have the LT done out back which is where it counts the most though. Glass bedsides are needed for a SUA setup because of the amount of uptravel. If you do a nice midtravel in the rear with standard spring over axle setup, I'm sure you'll be quite happy and cost 1/4 of the price of a full LT.

As for remote resi's, the whole point is to have a greater volume of shock oil. As the oil gets hot, you get shock fade and performance deteriorates. If you're only doing occasional mobbing, remote resi's are for show and you'll never take full advantage of it and you can save yourself 300 bucks or so.

A midtravel setup also gives you great performance on trails. I have no qualms whatsoever about how my setup works for trail wheeling. I got a 4x4 for a reason damnit! It's my (very humble) opinion, that a midtravel front and rear setup is probably the most generally flexable 4x4 setup you can do because it doesn't limit you to just 1 style of wheeling (but it certainly is not the cheapest).

If dunes are not your thing, I'd tell you to save your money and go with Bilstein with Eibachs (like Jerry) or OME (like Steve). You'll save a pretty penny and have a hard to beat performance on trails. Look at Jerry, he'll drive over everything!

Well, I first checked Kragen on the new one and their warehouse was even empty. The only other one listing a new one was Napa and they didn't have any either. So I went with a reman one from Autozone.

BTW Ryan, keep looking for that bearing puller attachment you made. I asked the guy at Autozone and he said they didn't carry any bearing pullers that small. And he said when he used to work on Hondas that he needed a small puller like what I need for some part of their exhaust. He used a dent puller instead. I need to check both Kragen and Napa up here, but I may end up looking at a dent puller to see if it would work. I'm also thinking of just finding a heavy washer (or a couple) that's the same diameter using that. Trim it off a little and if it fits over the slide hammer, then I wouldn't necessarily need to thread it. Just trim the edges to get it thru the bearing with a nut in front of and behind the washer to hold it in place. Maybe stack 2 washers if they don't look strong enough to do the job. That should work, shouldn't it?

I shall bring MY torque wrench just for you buddy. And my soldering iron just to be on the safe side. Just keep me and rob away from open bodies of water, or garden hoses, hell by all means keep us away from bottled water just to be on the safe side. You never know what might happen given those circuimnstances.
