Nah I already have mine made. But for those people who want to make one also, could copy mine as a template, but they have to bring their own steel. 1/8" should be fine

Bearing puller is all that's needed (slide hammer with the bearing puller attachment...not sure if they're considered two separate tools in the case of a bearing puller). Mostly, I'm looking for help getting to the point of removing the cv axle from the front diff. Someone to say, "yep, take that apart there, and then remove that, etc."

That's right, you already did yours yourself, didn't you! And you're the one that made his own custom bearing puller for this bearing. I'm thinking I need to definitely check the calendar at home. And then maybe it's time to order the parts...

I honestly couldn't take off the CV axle from the diff when I replaced my CV boot. Used a slide hammer and all, still couldnt do the trick. I ended up just changing the boot under the truck :D

Wrong tool for the job. ;)

Pry bar (for leverage, not for prying) and a 5 lb sledge works every time for removal and installation.

I might need some prayers to the shipping gods so that my motor gets here timely. I REALLY want to make it to this mod day to lend my knowledge on the CV BS (and the 35 mm socket) and take advantage of Jerry...for his welding...you sick bastards.

Shit, I forgot about the 35 mm socket! And I assume I'll need something longer than a torque wrench to break that sucker free at something like 172 ft lbs of torque? (I don't have a clue!) I should see if my dad still has his huge breaker bar for this.

Jerry, go ahead and put me down as a maybe. I'll have to get my act together and start getting the supplies/parts I need to do it. I just think this is the time to do it with all the experts there.

Impact wrench. Air tools FTMFW. Don't even need anyone to stand on the brakes while you pull the nut off.

But yes, a torque wrench will work. 174 ft lbs is torque spec for installation.

That's right, you guys have power tools.:yay:
I'm so used to doing everything the hard way. I even split all my cords of wood by hand (I've been doing a lot of this in the evenings lately). [IMG]

Okay, count me in for sure. Guess I need to look up the bearing and seal part numbers and get them ordered at the dealership. Then up to the local parts store for the axle.

Hey Ryan, how long do you need to stick the bearing in a freezer beforehand? (Maybe any of you know this?)

Also, do you still have the custom bearing puller you made for this? I'm still planning on renting the bearing puller and slide hammer anyway, but who knows which would work better.

I didn't even stick it in the freezer. Went it pretty easy. But iv only done one, so i can't say it will be *easy*. Also something to rent/get would be a press fitting to hammer in the bearing. When me and my dad did mine, we just used a socket of similar size and took our time. But we had to use what was there to get it done. I'm going to look for the attachment for you when I head over to my parents this weekend. Its there somewhere.
