Oh yeah! In fact, someone needs to take lots of pictures because I'll need to write up a DIY. There are tons of people waiting for a DIY with pics (on more than just TW)! So might as well do it from the beginning. I'll be bringing a camera, so someone needs to take the pics.

Got it on the list. I was thinking I was going to be using a socket, but I'll look for a press fitting. Gotta get the bearing so I can figure out the sizes...

    Anyone:
What kind of grease do I need for the axle? Anything specific?

Standard MP (multipurpose) grease. I use what I have in my grease gun which is valvoline synthetic. You can also douse it with gear oil when re-inserting. The main purpose of the grease is to help seat the splines and to not tear the axle seal and...which by the way you should absolutly buy one of those as well. It will probably get mangled in the bearing process.

Okay, thanks. I was planning on bringing the gear oil because I knew I'd lose some even if I didn't drain it first...which is probably a cleaner method of doing it anyway (and a container to drain it into unless I don't need to bring that?).

Jason, I already knew about the seal. It's on the list of parts to get (bearing, seal, and CV Axle).

    remove filler plug
    drink beer
    remove drain plug
    drink beer
forget to put oil catch can under drain plug and spill oil over jerry's garage
    insert drain plug
use neighbors laundry to clean up oil on garage floor
    drink beer
    put oil catch can down
    remove plug again
    drink beer
you will need 1.2 qts of your gear oil of preference (75-90 is fine).
begin filling differential while drinking beer
realize you forgot to put drain plug in and swear profusely, however you're thankful you bought and extra quart of gear oil
drink beer and insert drain plug
insert fill plug once it overfills
    hang neighbors laundry back up
stare at your accomplishment in awe and drink beer.

What Jerry said. But here's the best write-up I've ever seen on all 3 for the 2nd gen (doesn't really get better than this one):

Its alright tho, I just wanted to read up on it so i know whats going on. I know there will be some other more involved projects going on at the mod day, so I dont want to keep asking questions for help, and pulling people aside from things.

    alright that helps a lot.
So does the same 75w90 oil go in all? Or are there different types of 75w90 for the trans and diffs?
