I need someone is Tacoma land to do me a quick experiment and tell me the results.

Turn on your non-jbl radio with headlignt on.

Then turn your lights off and observe if the radio dims.

Next if the radio does dim, if the dash dimmer have any effect on the illumination? (analog dimming on the radio)

this will answer a burning question on my new HU w/o having to reconnect my stock radio back up. Thanks in advance.

With headlights off, LCD display is lit to full brightness and cannot be adjusted using the dimmer. If headlights are on, then the LCD is adjustable via the dimmer switch. I keep my instrument cluster at full brightness, and with headlights on the radio is at full brightness just as if the headlights were off. The lights on the radio (around the dials and buttons, etc, but not the screen) come on only with the headlights. If I turn the dimmer down with headlights on, the radio controls and LCD screen all dim via the dimmer switch.

Thank you very much Moose. Now I need to see if I can get the dimmer to work on my new HU.
