    Hey guys,

Just bought my first tacoma. 2004 4-door 2wd TRD. I have been driving a nissan frontier for the last five years so I know little about toyota's except that they are great vehicles. I have 2 totally different questions.

    1) The truck has 110k miles and the timing belt has never been replaced. How quickly do I need to jump on this and how much should I expect to pay. Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated.

    2) Do they make a set of speaker adapters for the front and rear on the 1st gen. I have found tons of information concerning the 2nd gen but only bits and pieces about the 1st gen. I would like to run 6 1/2 components in the front if possible. Thanks for the helps guys.

    1. I would do the t belt now. It is listed for 90,000, so you are 20K into borrowed time. Do the water pump too because it is all apart and accessible. I have heard ~$500. Lots of labor.

    2. Search the audio forum for the speaker adapters. I know I have seen some for the 1st gen, and I think a lot of guys have managed to squeeze in slightly larger speakers w/o an adapter. I think some dude named Marv (?) is a whiz at this stuff.

Inline 4 cyls have chains, not belts, so they don't need to be replaced. V6s have belts and need to be changed out at 90K miles.
