If you want an easy seatbelt chime/light fix that won't have to be repeated when you remove the battery, this is it.

On the bottom of your seatbelt there is a hole in the metal.

Use a screwdriver or Allen wrench to push into the hole.

Pull the clip down and out to the side. Use a knife or pick to remove the small spring. Use super glue to hold the white piece in the down position. Re-insert it into the buckle until you hear a click.

I turned my chime off with the techstream software in my 2012 and when I had the battery out for over an hour installing an aftermarket stereo it did not turn itself back on.

    Just so ya know.

I did this today on my 2012, works on turning off the chime, but the passenger airbag stays off even when someone is in the seat? Should this be the case, and what makes it stay turned off? I was thinking it worked from a weight sensor under the seat, not the seatbelt...

^^ I think this is the case for the 2012's. Not sure about other years. I've had a bag sitting in the passenger seat that had some weight to it make the chime go off.

I did this mod on both seats, worked on turning off that annoying chime, but now the airbag stays off on the passenger seat, no matter if someone is in seat or not? Just wondering if this was the case with others that did this mod?

yep, doing this deactivates the passenger side airbag - you have to put the spring back in - this was on another board and I did it and found out the hard way - there was a mention of putting a piece of tape over the left side of the slide with the spring still in place but I gave up and am cutting a piece of plastic the same shape as the seatbelt buckle and using that instead
