Not direct fit because you need door adapters front and rear. Adapters bolted to speakers make them direct fit similar to the adapters glued to the factory speakers. Then you need wire adapters to plug into the speakers on one end and the stock connector on the other end (post 112). These are the speakers I used.

Thanks for reposting! What percent of volume loss did you experience when doing this swap w/o an amp swap? For the money, hard to go wrong so long as it doesn't result in a big loss of volume. I don't always listen to my music loud, but when I do, I turn it up to near max. Especially with some of the live soundboard stuff I listen to which can require some extra volume to hear all the subtle sounds clearly.

Loss. How about a gain. My sound is louder and clearer than I ever expected it to be. I crank tunes like Soundgarden, Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, Audioslave, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Beastie Boys, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Stevie Ray Vaughn, etc etc and I have several live cd's. This system is powerful and crisp and barely any distortion at high volume. I cannot emphasize enough that I DO NOT NEED AN AMP OR SUB. I have tons of bass and plenty of crystal clear highs. Now I am pushing 60 years old but I love my rock loud and am in no way disappointed with my speakers on the stock entune premium head unit.

Sold. Can't beat it - the tweeters made such a difference alone and makes me happy to hear the crispness of some SRV ;) And the bass isn't terrible, but with only the tweeters and many hours of drive time in the last few days I do of course find myself picking up on the crystal clarity of the highs and comparing to the somewhat mushiness of the mids and bass.

My only disappointment is driving my Maxima with Bose to work. I thought that was a good system but is very weak compared to my Tacoma system. And at around $200 Kickers are absolutely unbeatable. I think the only way to improve mine would be having the same 6 x 9 speakers in the rear doors but they won't fit.

Did you do any type of sound dampening/deadening? I'm wondering if FAST Rings are enough. I'd rather put the money into the speakers/system than deadening.

Zero. Thought about dynamat but did not. If I hear road noise I just turn the volume up. I have ventvisors so I get a ton of noise from them if the windows are cracked but fairly quiet with windows up.

These speakers and door panels are simple to remove. If you feel a need for sound deadening then you can do that later. I say install your speakers and ride. If the noise bothers you then take a day and add material.

I've done dynamat in a vehicle before. It does make it sound better, but not sure I wanna deal with it (or the extra weight) this time around. I may check out Mr. Marv's suggestion of FAST rings or weather stripping and see what that does -- it's supposed to keep the sound directed outward instead of up into the doors.

Its the TW syndrome - like a virus that works its way slowly through your bank account... $100 here, $200 there, $1000 here, etc., ;)

Hahaha, seriously. I actually just purchased the door speakers (double cab) thanks to a member posting that Crutchfield was having a BOGO on Kicker speakers. They also include the mounts needed and adapters for FREE :goingcrazy::goingcrazy: total for everything was $135. That's the cheapest I had found

Looks like this sale is no longer though, correct? Unless there's a coupon code somewhere I'm missing?

There's actually no coupon code. Just add them to you cart and select your vehicle info and the website will add the adapters and mount brackets by itself

Edit: The rears mentioned on here were no longer available so I purchased the "newer" version of the CS series.

This is the set I went with except I went with the 6 3/4" for the back door. Had the CS's in the cart and talked to a representative and they suggested the DS's since I don't have an amp.

My only concern with the kicker speakers is that they are on 90db...
