I very much doubt a CS Series would be any louder than a DS series considering they are the same sensitivity, and the CS series needs more power. I mean if your going to amp it in the future, ya sure.... but i guess you never know. Do the DS series distort at max volume like the stock speakers do? Im just looking for speakers that wont distort if i maxout the entune deck and sound decent.

Seems like the DS series, Rockford Primes, and Kenwood sports series would be the speakers to have if you are running off stock head unit from what ive seen... without spending too much anyways.

So as opposed to the stock speakers, how are the DS better? Less distortion at high volume over stock?
Sorry your other post above seemed to indicate no improvement from the DS's and only from the tweeter upgrade.

Others are claiming overall improvement in highs and lows with the CS using the stock HU.

I already did the Subaru tweeters and they made a difference.
Having a hard time finding the CS series in stock anywhere up here in Vancouver BC while several place stock the less expensive DS series.

My stock head unit (entune) goes up to 62... starts distorting after 48-50 using stocks speakers on my music, and i wouldnt mind it using the stock deck to its full potential. I would like to believe buying the DS series would allow you to reach max volume without distortion with ease over the factory speakers. I bought the kenwood sport series 6x9's and 6 1/2's thinking it should be just enough of an improvement with no distortion. Havent put them in yet... but will soon before winter lol. Ill get the tweeters later... i might get a different set of tweeters instead of the kicker ones. 150 canadian is alot for a tweeter.

I noticed the tweeter upgrade, big difference. I.M.O the speakers are only a quality upgrade (distortion from stock). With no plans on installing an amp, I.M.O buying the C.S or K.S series is probably a waste from buying the D.S series.

Still a lot of dough but I got mine for $120 from Jim Patterson Subaru in Port Coquitlam BC.

Ok, I get it now and will take another look at the DS series.

Anyone know the torque specs for the 10mm bolts that mount the passenger side grab handle? My wife uses it daily to haul her 120 lbs into the truck.

Have had the tweeters and Kicker CS in the doors for many months. Still a very happy camper. Just checked today and the tweeters are still on ebay for $80 - $90 and subarupartswarehouse sells them for $89. Just FYI for everyone buying that Subaru dealers will price match online prices.

I have a brand new set of these Subaru tweeters that I will sell for $80 shipped. I bought them for my 2nd Gen truck before I checked here to see about fit. Needless to say, they don't fit.

Has anyone replaced the tweeters in a JBL package system from Toyota? How do the Subaru Kicker tweeters compare stock JBL ones?

@jsey21 when you installed the Noico it looks as if you did it right over the existing plastic. I am assuming you did not remove the plastic and felt? How did that work out for you? I have seen others who put all the wires in the door and then install the Mat over the door and then cut holes and reinstall the wires. I am just trying to save a bit of time as well.

Well, my thought was that since I could not get all the way to the door outer skin (there is a crash bar right behind the inner skin) that putting it on the inner skin was just about the same as over the plastic, so I went the easy route. It is quieter than before, but that is just my opinion... I did not get a dB gauge out and measure road noise. I hear folks I am talking to on my phone (through the Bluetooth) much clearer and they have noted that they hear me better, so I'm happy with it.

I have seen folks who do the correct thing and pull out seats and all that to put it down right on the outer surfaces of the truck, but I'm just not that into it. It worked for me and I'm happy. The main reason I put the sound deadening on was that I figured that if I was already pulling the door panel off, I might as well add some extra stuff that would only help the situation.

To be honest, the speakers were such an upgrade that I am not sure if I can really tell how much the sound deadening material helps.

    ** UPDATE **
On my way into work this morning, I tried to better listen to where any road noise was coming from. After turning off the radio, it was pretty clear that most of my noise was coming from the rear of the cab, not the doors and such. I have heard folks talk about the rear of the cab not being insulated well and that seemed pretty evident to me.

So, I'm going to say that what I did works rather well. If I wanted to do more, I could put some behind the rear seat (maybe even the floorboards), but I'll see if I get the desire to dig into the truck that much.

I just installed all 6 speakers...nice upgrade for sure but
when fading to the rear speakers tho, it sounds faint compared to the fronts....
    is this normal?
