Easy way to stiffen suspension on my 2017 TRD Sport?

    I'd try different tire pressure settings. Also try adding some weight in the bed and see what that does for the ride quality.

    I ordered the 5100's, thanks for all of the advice. If I were to set the front adjustables to the .85" lift setting, would adding the SuperSprings in the rear be advisable (as I've read they lift the rear up about .5") ?

    Stiffness and strength are two different things. A Unibody car has significantly more stiffness vs weight. Take a look at a semi tractor when pulling away from a stop light. One front corner of the chassis will rise a few inches. The entire frame twists due to driveshaft torque reaction. The entire chassis is a spring with no damping. A frame style chassis will "wind-up" similarly when one corner hits a bump and the suspension loads the frame.

    Here is a propaganda video made by Ford. It shows how the frame stiffness affects handling and performance. It also shows the lack of Toyota expertise in truck frame engineering....

    Ive seen that video and i just dont see it translating to real world anything. Heres a test: put your fingers inbetween the window glass and seal of your truck and swerve. As you feel the gap open and squeeze on your fingers, this is cab flex. Do the same in any sedan. Bet the sedan is worse for 2 reasons. A. It doesnt have a frame so the chassis is the only point it can flex. Truck has cab and bed mounts between frame and cab/bed.
    B. Its payload isnt designed to carry as large a variation in weight

    Not saying i dont agree but i dont. Not in real world. Op's issue does not lie in the fact his truck has a frame thats acting like a spring over bumps. It has to do with the pathetic excuse for dampeners toyota installed in his truck.

    I did parts for years and i dont think ive ever come across a shittier feeling shock that was not legitimately broken. Those blue hitachi are pure junk, others maybe slightly better but still mediocre at best compared to even a 5100. I encourage everyone to grab a couple wrenches and take a rear shock out. Its super easy. Just compress it with your hands and come back here to research good rear shock options. (I like 5160 until i go extra flexy spring)

    Picked up the Bilstein 5100's yesterday and installed them today. Used the method to install without using a spring compressor (which I found on this forum) which super easy - felt much safer than using a spring compressor. First one took me an hour, second one took me about 15 minutes (you all know how that goes). I did have to remove the front skid panel for access to loosen the bolts for the front control arms so it would swing down far enough to remove the shock/spring assembly. I tried to maintain the factory alignment as best as I could but I can tell it needs a proper alignment just after a few minutes of test driving post-install.

    I set it to the lowest lift setting in the front which was .65". Will see if its noticeable after they settle in.

    T-Rex grill with black bezel. Blacked out all the badges and added the Tacoma on the tail gate. The windows have been tinted to the darkest law will allow.

    So far so good, I took it in to get aligned today and the truck rides great.. definitely less "roll" which is what I was aiming for.. but I know they need to settle in for a bit. I set the front shocks to a .65" lift (and the rear is still at stock level) but I can't really tell by looking at the truck that the front is sitting any higher.. Visually it looks level.

    Stiffen? Jesus man... I am tryn to soften up my 18 sport. its way to stiff for my liking, sooo much more stiff than my 08 sport was(supposedly the same shocks but huge difference to me). Damn near undriveable. I bought it to be my new daily driver and have since parked it and went back to my old optima until I get a fully adjustable chambered kit ordered and put on. Gonna toss the stock setup.

    Airbag suspension will certainly stiffen your suspension as needed. Easy enough to regulate just add or take away air...better shocks for better damping for sure.

    The easiest way to stiffen up (also the cheapest option and can be done fairly quickly) is just weld up the suspension... go to a fab shop and ask for a few quick welds on the part of the shock thats shinny directly to the housing... pretty straightforward Id say... however you will likely go through several Tacomas due to damage to everything.... everything...
    Actually if you have a friend with a Tacoma try it on his first... just incase you have second thoughts....

    Bed cover and Mud flaps, OEM Audio, Super Bump stops, Sumo Springs, Bed Stiffeners, Stryker hood shocks
    I added SS to my truck and they don't actually touch the frame. The tops are about 1/2-3/4" below the frame. They just touch when I am hauling and it does not impact anything with the ride.

    Which SS's do you have? I am looking for the same setup you mentioned but have read many places on TW that the SS's they installed touched at all times and actually increase the rear ride height. I am good with how my TRD Sport rides empty but want some better support with a load.
