Let me preface this by saying that the ‘07 Taco I bought back in late 2006 now has about 128k miles (205k kms) on it now. It is the 4th vehicle in the driveway and I don’t really want to pile a bunch of money into it at this point.

The frame was recent replaced along with the leaf springs and the only “performance” mods are a Toytec Boss Kit. I do plan on using it form some light overlanding camping and plan to get a rooftop tent sometime next year.

So while many of you may have snagged a Relentless, CBI, DO, or other “premium” bumper, I just couldn’t justify the cost; especially considering the extra shipping, duty, taxes to Canada.

So I bought (the last for now) bumper from eBay and it now comes in 5 pieces. I’m not going to do serious rock climbing so I could live with that. There was no picture provided by the seller, but thought I’d take the chance anyways.

I had it shipped to a FedEx center in Tonawanda NY (yes, the armpit of western NY), and it arrived in two large boxes. I discarded the packaging outside the ship Centre and I believe there was a (DV8?) sticker on one of them. Anyhow, I smuggled this thing back over the border this morning to Toronto (go ahead, judge me).

I guess you get what you pay for, but it is what it is. The powder coating looks a bit inferior, but for my purposes, I think I’d be happy with a 3-4 year lifespan with this thing. There was some damage to a couple of the lower mounting tabs, but I guess I’ll hammer those back into shape.

While it’s in 5 pieces, the main section is still about 60-70 lbs I figure. It’s not a one man job for installing as I was hoping. Since the weather is turning, it might be a couple months before I get a chance to install it.

There seems to be mounting holes for a winch, but not sure what rating it will hold. The main section is made from 1/4”(?) steel just from eyeballing it. Whatever, I will just get a cheap Smittybilt winch and slap it in there for emergency purposes. If it rips off so be it.

The wings also seem to be made from the same 1/4” gauge metal, while the upper center portion appears to be made from 1/4” sheet metal. Tubular grill guard is the 5th piece and is secured with 4 bolts.

Let’s face it, it’s $550 delivered. It’s like it’s disposable at that price. I’ll probably have to touch up a few areas with some undercoat paint or similar, but the true test will be fitment. I am anticipating some issues but let’s keep our finger crossed.

Oh, and it arrived with 2 D shackles. That was a pleasant surprise.

Interesting. I'm not sure that I like how it now comes in 5 pieces... I've had mine for two years. I had it stripped and powder coated as soon as I got it. I love mine.

    Nice!

If I weren’t so lazy, I’d weld it all together and get it re-powder coated like yours! I guess the benefit of a modular design is that if anything breaks or gets dented, I could get just a small section fabricated. Anyhow, glad yours worked out!

the 5 piece design now makes it look as cheap and flimsy as a bull bar.

Have had this Bumper for a long time.
This bumper is all steel. No sheet metal. The top is all 3/16” and the winch plate is 1/4” steel. The gussets are even thicker

Almost looks like my AllPro Apex bumper but in pieces and maybe not as thick?

This was the original listing. It may not work anymore as apparently my order was the last one they had in stock for now. I imagine it won’t be long before they get more. You can call them to confirm

Yes. I think is is a clone of the AllPro. I’m definitely going to weld the pieces together. Should work out fine after welding and re-powder coating.

Yes I heard that one is from the sons owner of AllPro, before TG bought them out. Something about how they try to outsource their design and they tried to post it on here as happy customers.

Why does their photo show a whole solid bumper and yours came in pieces? Kind of misleading to begin with.

I'd love to find an ebay hidden winch mount that uses the stock front bumper on a 3rd gen....

The pics are the two piece. I didn’t notice until after I ordered but the description says it’s a 5 piece. Even still, considering just shipping alone would have been an extra $300-400 (plus tax/duty) to Canada from most other fabricators, I can live with it. I have access to a mig welder and after I assemble the pieces together, I’m sure it will look fine, especially with new powder coat

Is sheet metal not steel? All bumpers are going to start as sheet steel then plasma/laser cut to shape.

    true lol

when someone says sheet metal I picture the paper thin crap at home depot, and I cut and sell sheet type metal for a living so I am used to the term sheet metal meaning thin weak steel.
