Has anyone tried the eBay sellers that offer repair for the 2005-2008 overhead temp/compass display? Most cost around $20. Is rather take this or a similar route than buying a soldering iron and attempting the repair myself with no experience if folks would recommend it.

Maybe a watch/phone repair shop? It’s not hard and they can do it quickly

Several videos on YouTube on how to repair plus how to replace the entire unit. Doesn't look like it's major brain surgery from watching the vids.

I soldered the loose resistor about 5 times before I followed a thread on here about installing your own resistors and it's been going strong for 5 years. Get a cheap soldering iron and the required resistors and it takes about 10 minutes.

I’m aware of the process to DIY, but was wondering if anyone has sent theirs in for repair and if it’s a reliable service.

You can also buy a mirror from bob's mirrors that has comp and temp. I put it on my truck but I didn't have it to begin with.

I took mine to a local truck stop that repaired CB radios.
The didn't even want to charge me. I handed him $10 and said thanks.

Of course that was 10 years ago or longer.
