EBC BRAKE UPGRADE

    Has anybody thought of upgrading their brakes on a 3d gen yet. I have lifted mine and have 35's on it and am wondering if the juice is worth the squeeze . I looked at EBC dimpled and slotted rotors and EBC yellow stuff pads only about 275 for both, but dont know if it will make a big difference. I might tow a 3200 pound camp trailer and thought it can't hurt right. let me know your thoughts.

    Rotors, don't bother unless yours are kicked. (I'd be impressed if you've killed a set already!:eek:) The dimpling and slotting is just a gimmick on passenger cars and trucks. It's also a liability off-road, from what I've heard.

    Pads, far more worth the time and effort, and the cheaper of the two! :thumbsup: I've been a fan of Hawk for a while, but EBC has a good reputation as well. Do some research on what you value noise-wise and dust-wise. Spoilers: there is no pad that has great bite, and is totally noise and dust free. It's a balancing act between the 3. There are great pads out there that will turn your wheels black with dust after a week, so be mindful of reviews.

    Yea I just thought a better biting pad might jack up a stock rotor, that is why I thought of changing them, good info. I searched and found a 2006 that was done thats about it, thats why I started a new one ..

    Keep in mind that slotted or dimple/drilled rotors are throwaway, they can't be turned.

    I've got aftermarket wheels and tires that shed roughly 7 pounds per corner. I thought that would help. But if anything, it seems like my braking is worse. I easily lock up the ABS and sometimes even skreetch tires if I press too firmly.

    I was thinking of changing my pads, getting SS lines, and switching to AtE Super Blue fluid.... whatcha think? I'm all ears for pad recommendations.

    OME, sliders, dents, hail damage, soiled armrest. Lightbulbs.
    If you more easily lock up your tires now that means your new tires have less traction than your old OEM ones, so your current OEM braking power is over-powering the capacity of your new tires to maintain traction under hard braking. More aggressive pads with more bite will only lock up your tires more, though they may feel better/have more bite between pad application until that lock-up point. Of course, more aggressive pads will allow you to do it more often and repetitively and with less fading....but won't help much if your tires are overwhelmed.

    Where do you plan to buy ATE Super Blue? It hasn't been sold in the states for years I thought.

    FWIW, Performance Friction used to make the TRD Brake pads, those were a decent choice for my '99.

    +1. Better brakes are not going to un-lock your tires.

    Regarding ATE super blue, I think you can still get it, but there's going to be big "NOT DOT LEGAL!!!" stickers on it because of the blue color. Because the government says unless it's clear or amber it's not street legal brake fluid. :jerkoff: I could see the reasoning if they made it red or green or purple or something where you could mix it up with transmission fluid, DOT 5 fluid, anything like that- but aside from window wash nothing is blue, and if you put window wash in your brake reservoir you're a special kind of window licker.

    ANYWAYS, ATE Typ200 is the same exact thing, just with the approved amber color.

    I have a new set of the EBC slotted and dimpled rotors. I got them on Amazon clearance for $70/pair. I have not yet installed them - was just gonna save them when I need to do a rotor replacement.

    Yea i saw them on there too 69 for one and 71 for the other, I might wait on the rotors and just get pads

    LS1 swap with nitros.
    I've had a set on my S2000 for about 6 years. Zero issues and they still have the yellow zinc chromate coating on them. Along with the EBC pads you'll notice some improvement but not a ton imho. I have stainless lines on the car too but can't see a need for them on the taco.

    Green stuff has better braking when cold where as yellow stuff has better grip as it warms up. If automatic and u plan on towing get the yellow stuff pads. No need for new rotors.

    I would choose a lower bite pad if you have an off road with the brake booster. My brakes are as sensitive as a girl pmsing. Worried about sneezing and tasting steering wheel.

    I bought a set of leather takeoff seat covers from him but we discussed the brake packages and they have worked on the new '16s
