Not to be a Debbie Downer but.... I feel that what's going on over in West Africa with all the Ebola cases & especially now that we're seeing cases in the United States is not to be taken lightly. And I assume that those of you who are making jokes about having to slaughter wild animals for food are meaning your posts lightly and are saying what you are just for the sake of humor but, if you've seen that kind of poverty first hand, as I have, you might be less inclined to joke around about people who are barely able to feed themselves & their children. I guess I could have just as easily not posted this but, knowing that people are really suffering and there are people making jokes at their expense...well, it just doesn't sit right with me.

 

It's human nature to take serious situations and make them light hearted, as it's easier for us to cope and understand and keep things from strapping our minds to an anchor and throwing it off the side of the ship of life.

I don't think anybody is laughing about people starving, but there is nothing wrong with what is being posted here.

People over there are ignorant of what is happening and they cannot understand basic biology. The most common way to spread it when the disease was first spreading in this outbreak is that when a person dies in West Africa the family cleans the dead body as a custom. They are now rubbing someone who was infected with a virus that spreads through body fluids with bare hands. Some people bleed a lot and they sweat from the fever, piss and shit from being too weak to clean themselves etc etc.

People over there are convinced that it is some western conspiracy to kill black people with this virus and steal organs or something. Also because of the high mortality rate of this disease these people see white doctors take people away and they rarely return alive. There have been several reports of people breaking into hospital quarantine zones to "free" infected people and bring them home.

Nurses at an airport were given a shit load of thermometers to test people getting on planes for a fever to stop them from travelling. The dipshit nurses used the same thermostat for the entire day instead of using them as disposable as intended. If the nurses are that ignorant what hope will some random person have of understanding this disease.


We're fine. Think of it like HIV. Would you go touching random bodly fluids before you heard about ebola?

It also can't spread through air so that's nice.

The hard part for me is that we are being told not to worry about it yet the number of cases in Africa continues to increase and the number of people leaving Africa and scattering across the world is also increasing.

I think the understanding of how it's spreading is also not well understood-and that's the scary part.

Just guessing, but even if ebola grew feet and was chasing us around we'd still probably be told it's nothing to worry about. Last thing gubment wants to do is incite a panic, especially so close to election.
