Coming from 1st gen taco. I've read numerous tread about 2nd and 3rd gen taco not recommended for diff drop but no reason behind it. You or anyone know why? Trying to help relief axle angle...

The argument is that the diff drop more so rotates the diff as opposed to dropping it. This is accurate, but it still does help the CV angles a little bit.

Im getting the vibes at 35-40mph after my lift. improved after alignment of course, but still there a little. Interesting tho: switch to 4 Hi and it goes away of course, and when back to 2WD its gone for a while. its only been 2 days and has done this each day. Obviously i should try the ECGS bushing, but give me yalls thoughts on this... My lift called for spacers on the diff drop. easy enough to remove, so should i try that and see if theres a difference? I imagine the spacers for the diff drop is there for a reason (make it easier on the CVs

This thread isn't too old. It's worth trying removing your diff drop since it'll only take a little of your time and not cost anything. Then you can know for sure if you need the bushing or not.

    all tore up already
Everyone looks at the vibrations are the issue. It is not the problem. It is the symptom of a poorly manufacturered needle bearing with too much clearance between axle and bearing. If you need the bushing or dont need the bushing takes all of about 3 minutes to diagnose:

-lay under front of your truck with head near pass wheel. See the big tube going from middle of your wheel to your engine bay? Thats your cv axle. Grab a hold of the section going onto your front diff (the side that isnt in your wheel)

-can you move the axle vertically? Do you feel any play or slop in it? No? Good. This side does not have the poorly designed needle bearing.

-Now repeat process on other axle on the drivers side. Does it move vertically? Yes? Wow didnt even need my crystal ball to foresee that! Congrats you diagnosed what most toyota technicians couldnt. Pat yourself on the back and go crack a beer. The rest isnt quite as easy.

"But my axle moves and i dont notice a vibe"
Maybe your imune to vibrations. Maybe the kbro2's you put on are hiding the vibration. Maybe you just been hella lucky and your truck is magic. it isnt right and your truck will likely vibrate eventually.

And everyone needs to uninstall their diff drops and bitch out the company that sold them it. You cannot "drop" the diff without dropping the rest of the drivetrain. You can rotate it but that does more harm than good as previously documented

Will the vibrations continue to get worse? Or is it just what it is? Still trying to figure out whether or not I need to do it.

Where are you located? There are members all across the country willing to help locals. I'm a huge advocate for this because you save money, have fun and learn about your truck.

I just installed the @ECGS bushing and a new seal the other day, still have the same vibrations as before after the first long drive, not too happy. Haven't crawled under the truck yet to wiggle the axles but they were firm when I checked after the install.
Not sure what else it could be other then a wheel bearing maybe but i've had a bad wheel bearing before and it feels like a different hum, and I don't have any wheel movement when checking.
Haven't heard many negative things about the bushing, in almost all cases it solves the problem.
Back to square one I guess.

Does the issue resolve itself when you activate 4WD?

Do you have a diff drop? If so then remove it

Is this for the 06 in your signature or a newer 3rd gen?

If the 06 then how many miles on the wheel bearing in question?

Have not had the chance to check this issue yet. I live in the city and barley get above 30mph but will test this theory this weekend as well as see if there is any excessive play in the axle.

No I do not, OME up front with 886 coils

Correct, 06. I replaced both wheel bearings maybe 20-25K ago.
