It’s getting closer to lift time and I’m doing the ecgs bushing while I’m there. I know u lose some fluid in the change. What type of gear oil do I add? Or do I need to change all of it? 2500 miles.

A trick to not lose any diff oil, is just jack up the drivers side so it's a bit higher than the passenger. That way all the oil shifts over, and you won't spill a drop. I prefer this to cracking open the diff, unless it's time for a fluid change anyways.

I used the weight ECGS recommended and that others also use. It's a heavier weight than what is called for in the manual. I've had no issues.

To answer your question, you don't need to change it at 2500 miles. I would just top it off if you have some fluid loss.

EDIT: ECGS recommends 85w140 Non-Synthetic Lucas differential oil.

So just add the weight the manual recommends.

If you're topping it off then yes, if you're changing it out then go with the stuff ECGS recommends

When I did mine, I jacked up both sides since I was doing my entire lift and it was just easier. I lost a little bit of oil, but not even 1/2 quart.

Which gear oil to use is a whole ‘nother thread!
