Have not had it done as I cannot find a shop to do it in the area but unless a boot tears, etc, that should be it as long as they have a tool to remove the old bearing.

So here’s a question... got a 2020 pro. Westcott lift kit(1/2 “ top plate and new perch that’s another 1/2” ) and SPC UCA for the front. Was driving great but decided on a diff drop. As soon as I did, started getting cyclical vibrations at 30-40 mph. Now debating pulling the diff drop but it might be a coincidence? Any thoughts?

Start with the easy and free solution, put it into 4WD and if that vibration goes away, then bingo you have your answer :D

Also, diff drops are a 50/50 on this community. Half swear by them and the other half say it’s pointless. I know that’s helpful moving forward. hahahahah

I never updated my issue until now. Could not find someone to replace the ECGS per my earlier posts. Was referred to a Toyota dealer Tech via a friend that I could at least talk to "as a friend". I was running out of options. Was told to bring it to the dealer. They drove it, felt the vibration. Was told there is a bulletin (not recall) out there regarding the vibration. The dealer replaced the complete front Diff assembly as per the bulletin. I asked the $1,000,000 question about is the crappy needle bearing design on the driver's side part of this new diff and will fail in a few months. All I was told was the new diff was "redesigned". It's been about a month. So far so good. That's my story to date. :notsure:

i just did the ECGS in my 2015 TRD double cab. The noise and vibration are now gone and it drives great. BTW, a piece of the old needle bearing broke when I drove the nut piece of the ECGS removal tool into the differential. i was able to fish it out with a magnetic pickup tool. Be careful when driving the tool in and inspect the old bearing before installing the new bushing. Otherwise the job wasn’t too bad.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. Makes ya wonder how reliable this piece was to begin with. I realize the break was caused by doing something irregular, but still... goes to show how sensitive the piece is/was. It’s being sensitive in the trash now :D

    Also, have tool will ship

is there a better tool swap thread?

Is it possible that after ECGS bushing install, it’s hard to engage 4x4 ?

This is a great thread and has helped answer my question! I've been told that ECGS needle bearings are a must for vibration when lifting Tacos. To save potential future headache, I may elect to bite the bullet and do it.

The ECGS bushing actually replaces the factory needle bearings. But youve got the idea lol.

How bad are the vibes from a bad needle bearing? Like it is violent in the steering wheel and you cant miss it?

Has anyone experienced the vibration and not done the bushing replacement resulting in the needle bearing to totally fail?
