How do I figure which bushing to order? My vibration feels like passenger side so I’m just going to do both.

Passenger side has a different bearing and to my knowledge shouldn’t give you any issues. For the drivers side bearing just got on ECGS’s website and they’ll have a menu to chose from for appropriate bushing and you’ll be able to find it.

Ok I found it. Thanks. I just searched the bushing itself originally and pulled up three different ones.

What size bushing do I need for 17’ OR? I also have a removal tool that I used for a 2010 Tundra. Could I use this tool as well? Thanks!

Are guys getting this vibration with no lift and stock tires? I’m familiar with it on my 2nd Gen that was lifted. I swear I feel it in my 3rd on a recent highway run at fairly high speed for a few hours. 4000km on the odo

Since the diff is on the drivers side there is an axle tube that extends to the passenger side (not sure the exact term)

If you look at the parts diagram you can see that Toyota uses the same needle bearing in the carrier on both sides of the diff, supporting the shaft where it enters the spider gears:

    https://parts.toyota.com/a/Toyota_2...T-AXLE-HOUSING--DIFFERENTIAL/674470-4301.html

The difference being that the passenger side has a half shaft that rides on its own roller bearing within the axle tube, the CV shaft interfaces with this half shaft assembly and therefore has additional bearing support on the passenger side. On the drivers side the CV interfaces directly with the spider gear, being supported solely by the needle bearing.

I really want to complete this on my 2018 prior to my full suspension install next month. However, I dont feel comfortable doing this myself. Any members in the north Atlanta area that would be willing to provide an assist on this?

Just did the ECGS bushing upgrade last night on my 08, pretty easy job. 2 hours from start to finish. A 2 jaw puller with a slide hammer takes that needle bearing out quick and easy.

Thinking of adding a second battery...
because it will give you issues later. You can wait until it happens or do it while you are lifting the trk or whatever. I was not aware of this issue until my 2007 started this when it was around 80-90k miles. I thought that it was the wheel bearings but after so many times being under my trk, I've come to realize is the damn CV bearing. I've ignored it for at least 25k miles. The trk has 100k and it has become more annoying...aka noise is worst! I do not have the vibes. I've just ordered the part and Toyota should pull the head out of their ass for a F'd up design on this area.

YMMV. You can wait until it comes up or you can do it next time you are working in that area of your trk. Good luck!

Just a heads up. MANY people in 2nd and 3rd gens have reported the needle bearing issue even without lifts. It's not just a lifted problem

I’ve had several Tacoma’s in the past 20 years and never had an issue after being lifted. Sure it can happen but so can many other things.

I was wondering if Toyota replaced/fixed the needle bearing on the 2019 ORDC model. I will be installing a lift (2") in a few days and don't want to replace something I don't have to, if the issue has been already addressed. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone here had a clunking issue at lower speeds/slowing down to a stop that was cured with the ECGS bushing? Taking it in in two weeks to have it done because it's too damn cold to do it myself. Have the vibe issue and this clunking started at the same time that I'm hoping will go away at the same time.
