Is it normal for there to be friction noise with an ECGS bushing similar to that of a bad wheel bearing?

I installed the ecgs bearing kit, taking my time and following the directions and several videos.

The hub rotates without issue although there is definitely a more pronounced noise when free spinning the wheel by hand over the stock bearing and passenger side.

I've double checked and verified it's not the rock guard rubbing on the caliper and the noise indeed is coming from the bushing

Was there noise before changing out to ECGS bushing kit?
You put light film of grease on inside of ECGS bushing before putting CV axle back in?

No noise prior, I was doing it as a preventative maintenance item.
I made sure to smear 75w85 on it inside and out as well as made sure it was driven flush with the carrier using the supplied tool.

You’re sure you checked noise before you swapped? The left axle turns spider gears, the right axle turns nothing but an intermediate shaft that isn’t connected to the diff in 2WD. So it is normal to hear differences in noises between the two sides when free wheeling them, because they are turning different things.

To answer your question, I did not notice any additional noise with my bushing. I do have a light clank noise from the spider gears turning if I turn my left wheel in the air.

It sounds like the CV is chafing against the bushing but I wasn't sure whether that's normal break in noise or not. Planning to call ecgs first thing in the morning.

You sure the ECGS Bushing is flush with carrier? Did drive the bushing past flush, and it contacting spider gear?

It's flush, I used the tool to install it and then ran my finger along afterwards to make sure there wasn't a lip.

Unless perhaps somehow when wearing the CV in, it pushed it past flush some?

After I installed my ECGS bushing there was still some remaining sound on the left side. Turned out my left front wheel bearing was going bad.

Figured it out! The caliper was just scrubbing the rotor, which I was able to isolate by having someone spin the tire while I listened closely, I then verified by pulling the brake pads and the noise going away. The differential makes a very subtle noise that sounds kind of like you were gently blowing on a pinwheel, but ecgs says that's very normal spider gear noise so all is well.

I was going to suggest that, but when the right side was quieter than the left side, I figured it wasn't that. Good to hear it's resolved at least.
