So I finally have the time ( and the garage) to install the front diff bushing I've had for 4 months and I've got a little problem I was hoping you guys could help me with...

I searched around a bit, but couldnt find my particular issue, so I decided to post...

First, is it possible to pull the inside part of the CV with the outer part still installed in the spindle? I have tried every place I have near me and noone has or can get a 35mm socket to remove the outer cv nut so I am trying to get this done while the outer part is still attached...
second, I've been trying to pry the inner CV part out of the diff and I cant move it at all. I'm not entirely sure I am prying at the right part honestly...I see the actual CV itself where the boot is attached and then there is a space and another piece of metal that rotates with the CV then a space then the diff itself. My question is, does the part that spins with the CV come out with the CV or does that piece stay with the diff when the CV is removed?

Second, do I need to remove the front shock/ coilover assembly to do the diff bearing or can I leave it in the truck?

    Thanks guys!

take off the bolt that holds the UCA to the spindle, then take off the two bolts that hold the LCA to the spindle. You can down freely move the spindle with the CV axle attached, with the exception of the tie rod, which doesnt really limit your movement.

As for the inboard CV cup, Take a pry bar and pry the CV out against anything on the frame or front diff. There is a clip in there holding it in and you need to elbow grease to get it out.

Thanks for the help guys. Ok so I got the outer part released, but I am so far unable to release the inner part from the diff. I've tried a bunch of different length pry bars and different spots for leverage and while I'm flexing the hell out of the pry bars, the axle won't release. I'm not sure what else to try. Is it possible that because this thing has been bad for so long it may have damaged whatever clip holds the axle in?

Are there any other methods I can try to release this thing? Some people have mentioned using a slide hammer to get this out, but I have not seen any pictures of the how specifically you would use a slide hammer to get it out. Is there a particular attachment I need to get for the slide hammer in order to use it?

I have the hammer but can't see anyway to use it on this application.

I actually managed to get it out using the method I found to use a short prybar in the notches of the Cv and a hammer underneath the truck to dislodge it from the diff. Hammering from the center of the vehicle outward from directly below the cv. Came out in less than 10 hits. Had to try a different method after I bent two pry bars using the other method...

so have you got it out yet ? if not keep on prying at 4:00 and 6:00 o'clock position (facing inside driver tire) on the cv axle. try to rotate the cv axle shaft then pry at hard at you can. there is a sweet spot on it as soon as you hit that sweet spot it will pop out at no time. i used the 30 inches pry bar that i bought at harbor freight. I rotated -> pry : rotated -> pry ...The axle pop out after the third try. good luck

I was going to reply that you need to hammer on the prybar but you already figured that out. You made it past the hardest part. :)
