I bought a used ecm off ebay and they told me it couldn't be flashed due to the old vin number being locked with the immobilizer. Has anyone had this happen to them? They said a used ecm can't be re written. Where do I go to get a new one?

They said they couldn't start the truck with the ecm. So they could try again if I got a new one. A brand new not used one. This is the Toyota dealership here

Try a different dealership. Don't mention what the previous dealership said.

Vin doesn’t have to match .. but make sure you have the correct ECU model for your year .. this will work !

Umm .. are you trying to replace to ECU and having issues with the immobilizer ?

Or .. trying to load the TRD tune to another ECU ?

Either case .. the dealer is being lazy. You can load it yourself with a 2 day sub to techstream, but will need a mongoose cable.

The only time I swapped an ECU was in a GM car. Only needed a Tech II to reset the crank position sensor. Other than that, car started fine. Is it not this simple for Toyota's?

2 day subscription for techstream is $50. Mongoose cable can run you $200+ Used / $500 new.

Techstream will have the trd calibration file to load.

Post in : performance and tuning section.

Someone might be nice enough to load the tune for you. Obviously, you would have to mail them the ECU.

I searched on Amazon and found some for less than 100$?

Also found the techstream plus sale for less than 100$ too. Legit ?
